*Hannahs pov*
Briiiiinng. The sound of my blaring alarm clock was enough to turn my mood sour. It was Saturday morning and I had to get up and get dressed to go to work. I hate working, but it's what has to be done. As I rolled out of bed I grabbed a fresh pair of clothes and headed to the bathroom so I could shower. After I washed up I slipped on my clothes and applied a little mascara and concealer. I felt bad when I had to work since I always had to leave my 12 year old brother home alone for a couple of hours. He always reassured me that it was fine, but we had a small apartment with not much to do. I never let him outside when I was gone since the neighborhood was kind of sketchy.
"Hey buddy." I said as I walked into the kitchen to see my brother Lucas already awake and munching on some cereal.
"Hey Hannah." He said sleepily as he directed his attention to the cartoons playing on the TV.
"I've got to get going but I want you to do your chores and any homework you still have." I replied to him. He looked at me and rolled his eyes, but I knew he would listen. I kissed him on the head then grabbed my car keys and headed out the door. My car was old but it ran pretty well so it worked for me. As I was driving out of the parking garage I saw a bright red Ferrari pull in. I stared at it in shock. The people who lived here could barely afford their rent. They must of just got lost and were stopping for directions or something. I spoke my head and they drove off to work before I was late.*Zachs pov*
I hate my parents for this. They kicked me out because I got into another fight at school. Now I have to live in some sorry excuse for an apartment until "I clean up my act" as my parents like to put it. As I drove into the parking lot of the apartment I was going to be staying at I couldn't help but look at it in disgust. How could anyone ever live here? It was a dirty little apartment complex that looked like it should have been shut down years ago. I parked my car and banged my head on the steering wheel repeatedly until. Little boy tapped on my window. He looked like he was either 12 or 13 years old.
"What do you want kid?" I sneered out already aggravated by this whole situation.
"Your car is awesome!" The kid said excitedly. I couldn't help but let a small smile creep onto my lips. At least someone appreciated my baby.
"What are you doing down here anyways?" I asked the kid as I glances around at the sketchy building. "Where are your parents?" When I said this the little boys face immediately dropped.
"I don't have any parents. Only a sister." The kid said in a whisper. I felt bad for him.
"Where is your sister then?" I asked.
"She had to go to work and she told me to stay inside but I got really bored and wanted to stretch my legs and run around some. But the when I got down here I realized that I forgot my key. So basically I've just been sitting down here for a while." The boy rambled out.
"When does she get home?" I asked
"At five-thirty." He said. I glanced at my watch and saw that it was only about noon. I sighed and looked back at the kid.
"Why don't you help me move into my apartment while we wait for you sister." I said realizing that I couldn't leave him down here alone. The kid smiled up at me and nodded.
"I'm Lucas by the way." He said as I got out of my car and popped my truck open.
"I'm Zach." I said as I handed him a box of my clothes. I then grabbed another box of stuff, closed my trunk, and motioned him to follow me.
We walked up the flight of stairs until we reached my small apartment. As I unlocked the door Lucas looked at me excitedly.
"Hey! I live right next door!" Lucas said excitedly. I gave him a small smile and walked into the little living room.
"You can set that box on the bed." I said pointing to the room across from him. Lucas nodded and set the box down. We carried up the rest of my stuff and then plopped down on the couch.
"Thanks for all the help kid." I said as I gave Lucas a light slap on the back and he grinned back at me. All of a sudden I heard a girl yelling.
"O shoot." Lucas grumbled as he ran to the door. "That's my sister. She doesn't know I'm here." He said as he ran to his apartment. I sighed and looked around my small apartment. I really need to get out of here. My room at my parents house was almost as big as my apartment. For today though all I wanted to do was go to sleep, and that is exactly what I did.AUTHORS NOTE
