Heads up, (S/D) = School District
Everything was barren for me. Hello, my name is Leah Hamilton. Let me tell you something, my family, the Hamilton's, is a home of honors, and wealth. Even so, my family lived in secret, and told everyone that my dad works at an industry that takes care of my family. They know my father was such a hard worker, when my dad really works for the government.
To give you some info about who I am. I was born without a right arm, and an animal whisperer. It was a classic birth defect, and every robotic industry made right arms for me. However they were a bit tricky, but I got the hang of it.
However, when it comes to kids who think I'm poor, they always brake my robotic arm, just to break me. I do get upset about kids breaking my arm, but last time was the final straw.
Not only did this group from fifth grade, broke my robotic arm, but they also cut my hair! They even had the guts to cut me with makeshift knives! My hair looked like I had a buzz cut, but they didn't use a razor. They used fabric, and safety scissors.
When I got home crying, my parents had enough. They sued the school, and won all the money for damage to my robotic arm, and hospital bills from the cuts that group caused(they were deeper then they shouldn't). When I went to middle school, I didn't see this group since.
I then finally heard in high school, that they were expelled for what they did to me, and multiple counts of sexual harassment. Who knew that they learned this when they were barely in middle school. Ever since then, kids knew that I was the daughter of a representative.
When the school realized that I'm an animal whisperer too, they made sure that when they bring an animal to school. I always greet the animal and welcome them to (S/D) and people nicknamed me, "Animal Angle," or, "A.A.," since then. Also, whenever I go to zoo's, or animal shelters, I always strike a conversation with them. One time there was a kangaroo petting area, and the kangaroo was Joey. He was a cool guy, for a kangaroo. He and I became best friends since then. Every Saturday, I visit him and we have loads of fun, until I have to head home.
I just graduated high school, and was on a full-time job, as Stockport. I worked at a local store, thou all I ever wanted was to go to the world. I wanted to do something different, something excited, and new. I knew what life's like in (Hometown), but I wanted to live in a new territory.
Then I was requested to my boss' office. I went inside, and took a seat. Yeah, I was confused because, he was on the phone with someone. My boss knew that I was confused, and he then put the caller on speaker. The caller asked, "Is Leah Hamilton there?" My boss answered, "Yes, she's here." I told the caller, "Hello, what do you need?"(Ha, see? It was almost a reference to a song.)
The caller answered, which I noticed had an Australian accent, "Well, Ms. Hamilton. I'm Jason Henderson, CEO, and director, of the North Australian animal rescue-research center. I'm happy to announce, that you've been accepted, as an animal whisperer, to the center. We took care of the flight and trip, and we just need to know, when you'll be there." I was confused about it, and looked to my boss.
He nodded, and I answered, with a smile, "I'll be at the airport tomorrow."
"Excellent, we'll see you here in a couple of days."
"Thank you, sir. Bye."
"Your welcome, bye."
My boss hangs up. He noted in my file that I left a two weeks notice, a week ago. He says, "I'll give you the full pay now, so you don't have to worry about it later." She sent me a huge paycheck in my bank account, and I went back home to pack up.
When I told them that I was accepted in Australia, they were skeptical. The moment I informed them, that I was talking to the director, they lost it. They were excited about my trip, but I told that it's not a trip. I was permanently, gonna live there.
They were sad that I was moving to another country, but I told them that I was gonna be fine. I was also undergoing training with the center, so I wouldn't be difficult on the first day. When I was packing, I found a little box. I opened it and it was a gift I kept in case if I was moving. It was a gift for my kangaroo friend, Joey. I knew in an instant, that I have to see him, before I leave tomorrow morning.
I was on my way to the zoo, and they were about to close. Luckily, I am an honorary member to the zoo, thus if its about to close, I'm available to go in within two hours after closing. I informed the front desk that I came to talk to Joey. They gave me access to his habitat, and I walked there. When I got in, everyone was concerned, until they noticed that it was me. The guest were happy that I was here, because they, and the staff noticed that Joey was feeling down. Mainly because, sometimes on Saturdays, I was at work.
I gave Joey an enjoyable greeting, "Oi, Joey!" He turned around, and smiled, "Oi, Leah!" He ran to me, and gave me a hug. He asked me, "Where were ya? I was getting worried, ya know?" I told him, "Sorry Joey, I was at work, from the (hometown) plaza. Oh, I almost forgot. I got a call from the northern Australia animal research center. I was accepted to be their animal whisperer."
Joey was so happy from the news, that he hugged me tightly, and his foot lightly thumped the ground. I giggled, and said to me, "When your there, you'll find a kangaroo, with three claw scars on his left eyebrow. His name is Red, before the government took me here, he was my best friend. when you find him, do look after him, will ya, kid?" I nodded, and I knew that after today, I'm not coming back. I told him, "I brought you something, Joey."
I got him a kangaroo necklace, with two charms. A kangaroo, and, "L," represents my name. I looked at it astounded, and I told him, "Think of it, as a way to remember me." I helped him put it on, and he hugged me, "Leah, how could I ever forget ya? You'll always be my best friend, for a human. It's alright to cry, kid. Just know that I always saw ya as a sister."
I was trying not to cry, but what he said, really made me fail on doing so. We held each other tightly, and I said, "And I always saw you as a brother." He then gave me a gift, "Hope you use this to protect yourself, and this from me, and the staff." I opened it, and it was two boomerangs, with beautiful markings on them and two charms on both of them. One with a kangaroo, and the other, "J," represents his name. I thanked Joey, and we shared one last hug, then I left. I kept the boomerangs in the bag.
When night fell, I went back to work. Only to find out that they were hosting, a going away party for me, and my boss told them. My parents and I were shocked, and I was happy that folks here did care for me. They told me that they know about what's gonna happen, so my gifts were kits, and gears for my life in Australia. They were placed in the bag, Joey gave me.
The next morning, I was flying to Australia. Remembering my childhood life back home, and heading to the next chapter of my life.
