chapter sixteen

i woke up snuggled against leo's chest on the couch.
i checked the clock and it read 8:36 am.
suddenly i felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist from behind as i was making breakfast.
"good morning" he whispered in a raspy voice into her ear.
"good morning baby" she turned around and gave him a kiss on the forehead.
"what are you making"
"pancakes, sausage, and eggs"
"delicious, i missed your cooking" he pouted.
"aww and i missed your pouting and acting like a baby 24/7" she giggled.
"shush woman" he nuzzled his face into her neck.
suddenly mariah walked out of her room and into the kitchen.
"hi mama, good morning leo" she smiled
leo turned around and lifted her up into the air.
"how's my favorite girl, hm?"
"i'm good" she smiled along with her father.
"who's this?" leo pointed to a stuffed animal that mariah was holding.
"this is winnie the pooh, it's my favorite movie too"
naomi chuckled saying "my cousin went to disney last summer with her boyfriend and that had been the first time she watched winnie the pooh so she begged my cousin to bring her a stuffed animal when she came back"
"how adorable" leo pinched her cheeks.
naomi served them breakfast that they ate within 30 minutes.
mariah went to the bathroom and suddenly naomi spoke up saying
"i'm not ready for her to go to preschool"
"awh babe it'll be okay"
"i just don't wanna let go of my baby"
"it's alright come here" he opened his arms.
so mariah walked out of the bathroom and sat on her moms lap.
"are you excited for preschool" leo questioned her
"i'm super excited, i'm even getting my own backpack!" she exclaimed putting her tiny fists in the air.
the two laughed at her actions
"leo"
"yes?"
"are you my daddy?"
leo looked down at his little girl and smiled
"yes, yes i am"
"really?"
"mhm"
she leaped over to his lap layed there
"i was waiting for you" she looked up at him
"and i was looking for you"
"you found me!" she giggled.
"i did!" he smiled
