Chapter One

Cherish

As I walked out of Starbucks, a pumpkin spice latte in hand, the crisp September air tickled on my cheek. It wasn't cold and it wasn't hot, it was the perfect weather. Like a summer night, shorts and a sweater. That's exactly what I wore too. A pair of cut-off high waisted shorts, a sequined cashmere Diane von Furstenburg sweater, short sequined UGGs, and some of my favorite accessories.

"Bye girls! Love you."

I said waving behind me to my three best friends. Nadia Savala, her dad is a doctor along with mine, so I've known her my whole life. Bryanna Butler, who has been tied in with me and Nadia since third grade. Then, Kylie Wyrick who moved here our sophmore year from LA. Her dad is a big time lawyer and was well known in the city before they even moved here. We were all graduating together in a few months from Claremont Preparatory School. We were graduating early with only a semester of our senior year. I unlocked my car and opened the trunk, sitting Miu Miu, Armani, Gucci, and Tiffany's bags in there. I climbed in the drivers seat and stuck the key in the ignition, taking in the new car smell before starting it up. My 18th birthday was in two days and I was given my car a week early. Every year since my 16th birthday I get the new model of my car, a Range Rover. My birthday fell perfectly for the tradition because new models are generally released in September and my birthday is October third. I synced my newly bought iPhone 5 to the car and started my driving play-list, Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody" coming out of the car speakers at the perfect volume. I smiled content with my day and pulled out prepared for my drive.

After driving about an hour outside of the city I could finally see the gate to my house down the street. I pulled up the the tall gate, entered the code and drove to the circular part of the driveway, parking in front of the door. I slid my phone in my pocket, grabbed my bags and walked up to the large door, barley bumping the doorbell with my shoulder.

"Hi sissy."

My little sister Noelle said smiling up at my as she opened the door.

"Hey Elle, follow me, I got you something."

We walked up the spiraling steps, down the hall and into my room. The whole time I could hear her tiny footsteps behind me.

"What is it!? What is it!?"

She asked excitedly jumping on my fluffy bed. I laughed at her and handed her a small Tiffany's bag. She grabbed and tore through it fast.

"Awwh! Thank you sissy!"

She hugged me tight and slid the bracelet on her tiny wrist. Noelle was only 5, and small for her age but nothing stopped her from trying to dress the same as me. She was definitely my mini-me and I loved her to death. Her and my little brother Landon. He was a little over one and wild as a buck.

"Girls come downstairs!"

My mom yelled. Even tho she was yelling, her voice was still as sweet as ever.

"Where do you want to eat tonight? Since your dad isn't working tonight, and I know he will be on Monday were going tonight."

Hmm. I thought about all my favorite places, and only one stuck out tonight.

"Masa."

I smiled at my mom and she rolled her eyes. Masa is beyond expensive. But it is my birthday and I know my dad wouldn't say no.

I ran up to my room, I had a little over a hour and a half to get ready and I already had in mind what to do. I laid out my outfit, a long strapless chiffon Gucci dress, with a gold belt, gold flats, gold jewelry and soft make-up.
