Marissa ventured her way out to the kitchen in hopes of a tasty snack. There when she opened the refrigerator sat a lovely cantaloupe. She enjoyed the cantaloupe like no other for it was perfectly ripe and the best she'd ever had. When she had finished the cantaloupe the rind sat waiting for disposal on her dresser. The next thing she knew, she was looking up at her dresser looking at the blank spot where her cantaloupe was supposed to be. She panicked for she didn't want to dishonor the cantaloupe rind by it sitting in a lonely, dark corner of her room. She searched far and wide in the nooks and crannies of her room but was unable to find the beautiful rind. "Could it be true?" She wondered, for she surely would have remembered throwing away such a spectacular cantaloupe rind. With disapproval in her mind, she sauntered out into the kitchen. With hesitation she looked over into the trash can and saw that poor, poor rind staring back at her. She weeped upon sight of it and apologized for such a disservice to its corpse. She accepted that the dementia was getting to her mind and she said goodbye to her old friend one last time as she looked at it in the darkness of the trash can. The end
