I  was exhausted, tired and sleepy 
I stepped out of the car with my bag
Melissa step out and hug me, she has been so excited about the trip, she turned to kiss me but I turned my face away  an she pouted 
My thoughts has been about gem since, I was surprise to see that she accepted for me to go with Melissa 

I stepped inside the house, it was silent
I saw my parents in the sitting room 
My dad sat on the couch talking to someone on the phone,  and my mom was pacing back and forth 

When I stepped in, she stopped and looked at me with worries

"mom what going on " I dropped my bag on the floor

"Aaron come sit down "
I sat next to dad as he hanged up the call " did you talked to Aimee "

"no why " both of them stare at each other

"Aimee came here, this morning "dad answered "she said she had plans for you today, did you know anything about that "

"yes, she told me she'll pick me up but I thought she cancelled "

" did you call her " mom said

"yes but it was on voice mail"

"she said she lost her phone and found it inside her locker "

I ran my hands into my hair and sign
A lot has happened already between my relationship with her , everyday it seems  like am losing her,

"Aaron dear Aimee has never missed your birthday, she has always been here for your birthday since I can remember, don't lose her " my mother said as she touch my shoulder 

" I have to fine her " I jumped out of my sit, running towards the door 

Today was supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life shared with  my best friend and family and here I am running out of the house to meet her

She has stood by me through hard time, she knows a lot about me that no one knows, she has shared a part of my life and my memorys were filled with her

I ring the doorbell serval times

Miriam open, she looked  surprise

"MI please I need to speak with gem "
I pleaded 

"Aaron I don't know if she will like to see you "

"please MI I really want to see her "

"she is asleep dear, she has been crying since she came back  let her rest you can speak to her at your party tonight "

Crying,  

My ears became heavy, I felt a slight pain in my heart, Gem been crying, did I cos her so much I hated seeing her cry,

"OK then "  I turned around and walked out
Reaching the house I went straight to my room
Every pictures I had was always with gem

I started calling her Gem in fourth  grade,  when I had accident with my bike and broke my leg, my parents had a huge fight that year which cost my mum to leave the house and my dad was barley around, Noel was young then but gem stood in, she will drive me to school with Noel and back
She will prepare breakfast and dinner.
She will read stories for Noel to sleep 
She was and is a real gem in my life  

I heard a knock on my door as my mom walked in, she had a sad smile on her face

She sat next to me on the bed
"did you talk to her " she asked 

"I couldn't talk to her, Miriam told me she's been crying, and I feel bad, about it, I never wish to make her cry"
I ran my hand through my hair in frustration 

"it OK, you know her better, I called Miriam and invited them tonight" 
She said running her hands on my back 

" do you think she will come" 

" I don't know, you need to make it up to her "

" I know, but we have never been apart this long, this few months has been  different  without her, "

" since you were young, Aimee has always been your closet friends both of you were inseparable, she was always here for you, I remember when she were fainted and was rushed to the hospital, you were angry at her because she went out with Nathan, then Miriam called you,
You ran out of your room in your underwear and car keys, I had to remind you that you were on your underwear before you ran back to wear something, even when we reach the hospital you were restless and you stayed by her side till she woke up and even left the hospital, I begged you serval times to come home and take a bath" she chuckled as she remembers 

" mom she is my best friend, I have to be worried about her"

" no son she is not just your best friend, you are in love her "

What 

" mom I know you are saying things for me to feel better but ..."

" both of you are in love with each other but you two fell to accept it "

"what do you mean by both of us "  

" Aaron when I gave birth to you, you weren't born blind nor did I name you stupid not to know when a woman is inlove with you"

'mom I know when a woman is in love with me but I know that Aimee isn't in love with me "

" you are just as dumb as your father is it took  him 6 month for you father to fully tell me he loves me when we started dating, Aimee loves you and you love her , I kept quiet all along thinking you will grow to see it and everyday I watch you date different girls, you've introduce a lot to me an now I can't even remember their names or faces anymore"

" how do you know mom "

" because I see there way you look at her, you can't trade  her for anything or anyone else, since you were 5 you always  tell me you want to marry her, and why do you think you call her gem because she is precious to you"
