Materialistic people are scared of the realistic. The definition of materialistic is someone who cares more about object and possessions than they do the human kind. I've come to realize why, in my own opinion, these people care more things than they do people. Objects are there forever. Objects can't die, they can't run away, they can't tell you differently than what you already think. True there are the exceptions. Items can be broken, stop working, or stolen. But what can be broke can be fixed. And what can be stolen can be replaced. But when it comes to a person, a living breathing creature, there are so many ways to lose them. They can be taken form you by another person, feeling change and sadly so do people. They can leave on there own, it's easier than you think. They can be lead astray, told to try something new and it changes them forever. And the biggest one is death. The humans body is so fragile, despite being healthy physical and mentally, you are still vocabulary to suggestion. The human mind is a delicate place. Unlike items. They can't make choices for them self. They can't be wavered and changed at the tip of the hat. They have to stay, they can not leave you. But despite knowing this people would still have something real. Someone real. Someone who could leave at any given moment. Someone who could either make you feel joy or make you feel inferior. Human touch is a powerful weapon. A weapon we often misuse. We would rather take the risk with a person rather than take the safe route with an object. Materialistic people aren't stupid and self centered people. There just the ones who unintentionally play it safe. But sadly, like majority of the population. I would rather take the risk. Risk it with another person, despite the heartache it may bring me in the end.
