Adrien's POV:

When Louis and Charlotte arrived they seemed distant. Louis completely ignored me, which was fine, I didn't really care. Emma had locked herself in her room all night, I never had the chance to talk to her about what had happened. I felt so guilty, I know that it wasn't my fault but something inside me told me it was.

Louis, Charlotte and Emma all slept in the same room; I imagine in different beds as Nathalie didn't hesitate to bring sleeping bags and extra pillows whenever Emma requested for them. She was very polite towards Nathalie but I'd never seen my father's assistant act so....unnerved. "Nathalie, is everything ok?" I questioned her as she came to make sure I was heading to bed.

"Yes Adrien, everything is fine. But I'll let you know your father will be very busy." Is all I got as a response before she left my room.  Nothing new there.

                                                                     ***

When morning came I woke to the smell of fresh pancakes. I got dressed and headed down to the dining room surprised to see everyone eating together. Charlotte and Louis sat side by side; Charlotte was to the right of Louis, him being the closest to my father. He was sat at the end of the table, opposite to where Emma sat. There was a plate of blueberry pancakes next to her, which I assumed was for me. I took my seat at the table and realised someone was missing.

"Hey, where's Hugo?" I saw Emma tense up. She looked directly at Charlotte, who looked at Louis, who glared at me. I was frightened by our eye contact so I looked over to Emma again.

Emma started "He...um...we,"

"HESATADAYCARE!" Charlotte stood up, her nervousness portrayed in her tone of voice. After looking around the room to a sea of stunned faces she took her seat again, "sorry... I'll be quite now."

I was startled by her outburst and was surprised that my father was still here. "Nathalie told me you were going to be busy," I started, taking to my father.

"Well, I decided that it would be nice to have breakfast together, Emma was kind enough to arrange the meal with our chefs as well." He stated in a monotone voice.

Wow, she's so awesome! "Thanks Emma! You're so cool!" I expressed my adoration for her. Her response was more negative than I had hoped for.

Her voice was cold and unappreciative "Yeah," Pushing her plate forward and standing up she said "If you don't mind I'm going to pack for school." She walked right past me, refusing to make eye contact. I knew something was wrong, this wasn't Emma.

"Agrestsuko," the familiar voice of my father sounded. I quietened, ready for her to receive some sort of scolding for being so icy. Alas nothing. "Have a good day." He didn't look at her and she didn't look at him. My father has never even wished me a good day at school and now he was to Emma. Part of me was jealous, part of me knew something was bothering my father and Emma, and the rest of me knew something was wrong.

I'm going to get to the bottom of this! I made myself a metal note.

As soon as Emma left the whole room went silent, Louis and charlotte's chatty banter in the background ceased and my father got up and left without saying a word. He didn't even smile at me, didn't even look at me. I felt ashamed, like he wasn't proud of me  (AN: ZUKO LOSING HIS HONOUR BE LIKE...) (THAT WAS AN ATLA REFERENCE)

Now the only people at the table were me, Charlotte and Louis. I wanted to say something but the atmosphere was so thick you could cut it with a knife. I thought if I could whip up a quick conversation started and all would be good but nothing seemed to click in my mind. None the less, I wanted to talk to Louis; about everything. "Soooooo...."

"I believe I've lost my appetite." Louis said, got up and left. Rude! Why won't he talk to me? It's not like I'm to blame for his past. Then it hit me. Louis must be mean because of his past. It all makes sense now, he's trying to hide his pain but it's coming out on others, just like Chloe.

Ok Agreste, just be nice to him and he'll eventually open up to you! You can do this.

"Char... do you wanna talk about anything?"

"It's Charlotte, and no thank you." She left exactly the same way as her brother, not making eye contact and walking calmly out the door.

As I had packed my bags the night before, I didn't need to rush eating the pancakes. I ate them slowly and pondered his Emma and her siblings even got into school in such a short time, was my father really that nice to them. What did Emma say to him.

I had so many questions but I let them all drift away as I enjoyed my delicious breakfast!
