The last face I'd like to see

Are you me?

I was suddenly brought back from sleep, the first thing I feel is the biting cold giving me a chill that made me shudder. Its november now so the mornings have become very cold recently. I guess I should change to my thicker pajamas from now on, I thought to myself as I slowly sit on the side of my bed.

Across the room is the other bunk bed where I see Eli who looks like  sleeping beauty with flowing blond hair. Above her is Ayumi who looks like shes just barely hanging from the side of the bed, I really dont know how she can sleep like that.

I stand up from my bed to stretch out my body when I heard a soft voice above me.

"Someones up early today, Good morning Risu"

I look up and see Kyoko reading a book.

"Mornin', says someone who's probably been reading for quite some time now, you're probably the first one to wake up in our entire dorm"

I say to her with a slight smile.

"Its just out of habit back home I always wake up early to make breakfast for my siblings but here in the Academy we don't really need to worry about anything like making breakfast ourselves, so I just read a book to past the time."

"You're right we dont really have to worry about anything here except our academics"

Here in the Academy a very prestigious school for the select few, everything is provided food, housing and other basic neccesities. We dont really have anything else to do aside from studying, school clubs, and whatever hobby you have to pass the time. With everything provided it almost feels somehow like a prison....

"Lets go wake up those two and go to the cafeteria its almost 7, breakfast will be ready soon"

Says Kyoko, and I put aside what I was thinking.

"Okay wonder whats for breakfast today"

After waking up Eli and Ayumi we got ready for school and headed to the cafeteria to have some breakfast. When we arrived at the cafeteria I saw that for todays menu is going to be some rice, miso soup, fried fish, stir fried vegetables and chocolate soy milk.

"We have a classic breakfast today,  a very balanced meal"
comments Eli

"Aaaahhhhhh cant we have something more exciting like cake for breakfast"
complains Ayumi, this girl really likes her sweets, I think to myself.

"Who would eat cake for breakfast? You being an athlete should know best that a well balanced breakfast is really important"

"Yeah yeah Kyoko sensei"
replies Ayumi with a teasing tone

"Will you stop calling me that!"
says Kyoko in annoyance

"Ok ok enough banter, lets go grab our food"

I butt in to so that we can finally get breakfast. We got our food and headed to our usual spot. From a distance I can already see our 2 other friends Kaori and Maya, better get ready for Kaori and Kyoko's usual jabs at each other. They just seem to never get along, the prim and proper Kyoko and the outgoing and rebellious Kaori. As we arrive at the table Kaori immediately takes a crack at Kyoko.

"Good morning miss goody two shoes"
Kaori says with a smirk

"Ah youre still as uncivilized as the day before Kaori"
sharply replies Kyoko

"Please dont fight so early in the morning"
says Maya in a soft voice.

"Oh were not fighting Maya its just that Kaori lacks any sense of decency"
says Kyoko in a cold tone

"What did you say!"
says Kaori angrily as she stands from her chair.

"You two are such good friends!"
interjects Ayumi
