The alarm clock went off, letting out a high pitch ring.

Sasha hated that thing with all her being, throwing a pillow at it.

" It's already five-thirty. " Sasha said in a low, irritated voice.

She sat on her bed, eyes still weighed down, looking around the camp.

It was relatively small and in bad condition.

Sasha's breakfast was quick and boring, eating the same hard chocolate crackers with milk close to its expiration date.

Once she finished eating, Sasha went to the tiny bathroom to wash off the horrible stench that had been lingering on her.

Despite her general messy lifestyle, Sasha would give little attention to her health.

Whenever she went on a recon mission, she would try to find toothpaste and shampoo, trying her best to be clean.

After drying herself, she tended to her teeth, thinking about her last mission on the skyscrapers.

Once she had a good long look at her reflection, she decided it was time to go, locking her door.

During her walk to the office, she noticed her long-time roommate in the lunch area alone.

" Goliath. " Sasha said.

" How's recon? " He said in a low tone.

" How did you know I was outside the fort? " She asked with a look of annoyance.

" You were almost gone for a month, so I assumed that the captain put you on recon duty. " He said while eating crackers and tomato paste.

Goliath was a fool, but in some odd way, he was like family, and just like family, he didn't mind his own business.

" It was a breathtaking experience but extremely dangerous. Some of those buildings are ready to collapse on themselves. " Sasha said while walking away.

After a ten-minute run, she arrived at the entrance of the HQ.

Already, the pace in the headquarters was busy as four soldiers escorted a drug-enraged civilian.

" Morning. " Said an older soldier behind a desk.

" Morning, War Pig. " Sasha said while clocking in with her ID card.

" Everybody is already in the meeting room. The only one missing is you?." War Pig said while taking notes.

" I'll be on my way. " She went straight for the briefing room.

When she got in, the room had a dim, faint green glow, with three rows of wooden seats.

Everyone was already socializing, waiting for the captain to come in with the new assignments.

The room itself was clean and bright, everyone sitting down in the third row, sharing the seats with her colleagues.

" ATTENTION! "

The Captain stepped into the room, with everybody going quiet, standing up straight.

" Everyone, let's attempt to keep this Friday simple. "

The comment provoked the entire room to cheer his name, waiting for them to pipe down.

The Captain looked down at his sheet, putting on his glasses.

" Be advised, all staff is responsible for the sanitation of their work settings, so no weapons lying around. "

The Captain skipped a few files, glancing at his soldiers with an irritated expression.

" Here are the assignments for Friday, Outbreak, Ajax, go to the Compton district. " He said with a stern look.

" War Pig, and Trench, there has been a power shortage. Check it out. " He finished his sentence by crossing his arms, land looking down.

They waited for their assignments as the others took off, going to their assigned adjectives.

Finally, the captain spoke, disheartened, walking around the room.

" I have no new assignment for you today. What am I going to do with you two? "

" Captain, I understand that Outbreak and Ajax may have trouble with the Compton district. " Goliath said.

" Yes, Captain, I'm saying that we could be helpful if they ever needed more soldiers. Besides, what else could you use us? " Sasha said.

" I could assign both of you to custodian duty. " He replied in a joking manner.

" That would waste an opportunity for more resources; matter of fact, I can confirm that Compton has fields. " Goliath said.

" Silence! "

The Captain didn't want to deal with the duo. However, they did have a good reason to bring up Compton.

" Fine, I'm going to ask them if they would like a plus two on their team. " The Captain said while leaving the room, smoking a cigarette.
