Prologue - Alone
I sat on the wet grass in the forest. A chilly wind blew against my naked skin, making me wish I had brought something warm with me.
But then again, I had thought I would have found a pack to be with.
Two months had past since being cast out as a rogue. In two months I had been to several packs, but had chased away as soon as they realised who I was.
By now I had stopped hoping to be accepted. For them to listen to my story.
How was others supposed to believe me, when my own Alpha - no, my own father - didn't believe me! I thought. Damn it, I was innocent. The sparks flew off the rocks and the twigs beneath caught fire. Slowly my face started to warm and I streach my hands out towards the flames.
My numb fingers started to warm up and my warmed up blood started gaining live.
Soon my eyes got hazzy and darkness filled my vision.
I woke as the sun baked my face and my belly grumbling.
The wolf in me wanted out, mainly to hunt down my pack for deserting me. Also to hunt a deer for breakfast.
I sighed and shifted into my wolf, warning her not to go after the Silent Moon Pack.
As a wolf, my vision sharpend and I could hear a squirrel munching on his nuts a hundred yards away.
I cleared my mind and "walked through" the do not disturb door of my mind.
Most people loved the thrill of the hunt, others like me wants to cry. I hated the feeling as my teeth teared into the flesh of another, as the creature let out a cry for help and pain, as the creature fell limb to the ground.
So I learned to withdraw my mind as the wolf took control of my body.
Hours past and I felt my tummy fill up and soon I looked through my wolfs eyes. On the ground layed an antelope, neck ripped through.
I wanted to gag even though I enjoyed the taste going down my throat.
Soon my wolf was done and I shifted back to my human form.
I stumbled a little as I walked towards the river. The forest seemed to be full of endless rivers. Or it might be one really long river.
I dipped my toe into the cool water and a slight shiver took me.
Soon my whole body was in the river, the bloodstance gone. But I stayed in the water.
The water meant purity and how I wish I was pure.
I wanted to wash the past twelf yeats from my mind.
Chose: life as a rogue or sentence to death. My closed eyes flashed open. And quickly I swam to the edge of the river bank.
I ran back to the campsite and pulled on my last pair of clothes.
I had just pulled down my shirt, when a voice spoke.
"Well, look what we got here," he said as he walked from behind a tree.
He was big and very large. And not the fat kind. His eyes were dark and piercing. His face was deadpan, except for the smug smile on his lips .
He had a scar on the left side of his face.
"What are you doing out here in the forest, little girl," he said as he took a step forward.
I kept quiet and took a step back.
When he saw I made no move to talk, he tried again, but with a different question.
"What is your name? And please answer the question or else."
"Sheila," I said quickly, not wanting to know what or else meant.
"Pretty name," he said as he took a step forward.
A soft growl slipped through my lips and the man only laughed.
"Well, Sheila, let me tell you something," he said. "From now on you are my bitch. Goodnight now."
At first I wondered what he meant, then I saw a log flying towards my face.
Just before darkness took hold of me, I saw a little girl holding a log. She looked nearly twelf and already pretty. Even as my vision got hazy, I knew that this girl would be beautiful oneday.
