Oh to be a young 20-odd romantic in 1942 taking a stroll through the park, thinking about my medical degree in which I can pursue a career as a pediatrician, or at the very least a nurse when I bump into a quite peculiar woman, dawning a suit, a man's suit of all things! But in these uncertain times a woman can do all the things a man can. Father loves to chatter on about how the world has turned upside down, how he was right lucky a foolish woman didn't steal his teaching job. Poor mother secretly agreed with my sentiments of change, being born in the turn of the century but had to just nod and agree for fear of starting a ruckus. Lost in my own thoughts, I bump into the speeding woman with the suit on. "Damn!" I exclaim, forgetting all manners. "Excuse me miss, have to get to class, right then, will be going" She mumbled, picking up her saddlebag. As the woman speed off, I couldn't help but feel equal parts astonished by her lack of manners, and oddly enough, curious to see her again, wanting to see her face, chat with her over tea. Alas, no use wondering, because I would most certainly never see her again.
