Dim Stars

You lit up the stars so easily
Something that baffled me for so long
Breaking down my walls and reaching out
Clumsily I, with full hesitation, grasped you

The world suddenly shined around me
Bringing to light how in the dark I was
Days seemed like tireless  adventures
Eventually you had led me to heart break

Like a plate shattering, my heart hit ground
Broken down walls rebuilt in an instant
Sand castles at the beach on a summer day
Crumbled longer than my whole heart

The light of the stars begin to flicker
I can see the darkness creeping in
You showed me the stars only for a glance
Left alone at the end with the dim sky

I look up the stars, no longer lighting up
Imitating what you did, but it doesn't work
Are the stars broken, a replacement maybe?
Truth is, they won't shine, not without you
