Mob Song

Belle drove as fast as she possibly could, trying to make the time it would take her to get home faster. Adam had let her leave the castle as soon as they both saw Maurice being put into that van, and she wasted no time. She was even still in her ballgown, making it very difficult for her to maneuver around the puffy dress. There was no time to stop and fix that, though.

Adam stared at the rose as the second to last petal fell, shuddering as it hit the table. He sunk to the ground, his forehead resting on his curled up knees and his hairy arms covering himself.

When Belle arrived at the center of town where she had seen everyone gathered through the mirror, she noticed the mob had moved to in front of her apartment complex. Picking up the mirror just in case she needed something to defend herself with, she exited the car and stormed towards everyone.

"What do you think you're doing?!"

"See? We told you she'd come back! Where'd you go, the renaissance festival?" Gaston asked, moving from the front of the crowd that was facing her apartment building to get closer to her.

"Where I was doesn't matter. Now where is my Dad?!" Gaston wagged his finger and tutted.

"I don't think so. See, he's been telling us you were captured by a beast and trapped in a castle. If you want to see your Dad again, you're either going to need serious proof, or you can marry me and I'll keep him out of the mental hospital."

Belle sighed, looking down at the mirror in her hand. The reason she was going to be kept in the castle, to stop them from being ridiculed by others in their last days, entered her mind. It was their peace, her entire future ahead of her or her Dad. She knew exactly which one she wasn't going to give up.

"Fine, I'll marry you. Just let my Dad go first."

"We want to see the beast!"

"Yeah! Show us the beast!"

"No! I will not show you him! He's lived peacefully all these years! There's no reason to disturb that!" Lefou nudged Gaston with his elbow, whispering something to him that made him crinkle his nose in disgust.

"Sounds to me like you have feelings for it. Now I have to go meet my rival and scare it off."

"It is not a pronoun! My gosh!" She rolled her eyes, uncaring to the strange glances she was getting.

"You show us the beast, I'll release Maurice, and then we can get married later. We all win!"

"Just do it, Belle!" Maurice yelled from the van, banging on the door to make sure they were paying attention to him. Belle looked down at the mirror in her hand and sighed.

"I'm so sorry." She whispered, squeezing her eyes shut. "Show me the castle." She thrust the mirror towards the crowd, her eyes still shut, and everyone gasped.

While the mirror did at first only show them the castle as asked, it decided it wanted to do a fly through of the inside, landing at the celebration going on in the ballroom and then going up to where Adam was still sitting on the floor, surrounded by the wreckage of the West Wing.

"They're gay!"

"Look at the monster!"

"It's too dangerous to be this close!"

Belle, not understanding their shouting opened her eyes and turned the mirror to look. It was then snatched from her hand by Gaston and showed around to the crowd.

"He's literally being a sad puffball, I don't know why you're all so scared."

"The beast has her drugged! She's been sent to bring more victims to it! Do you really want this creature, this beast, to corrupt your children? To turn them gay?!"

"That's not how that works!"

"Silence! You have no say here! Put her in the van with Maurice! We can't have her getting in the way of our hunt!"

Hands seized her and pushed her to the van while more opened it and kept Maurice inside. She silently thanked Garderobe for not putting her in high heels, allowing her just enough traction to fight back against them.

Her efforts were deemed useless as she was locked inside the van, her Dad hugging her tightly. She hugged him back, but her thoughts were well beyond their reunion. Sounds of the mob driving off down the streets in multiple cars occupied her mind.

"I'm so glad you're safe. No one hurt you, right?" Maurice pulled away from the hug to inspect her, but she was reaching up into her hair to take out the pin.

"No, but they're not going to show them the same mercy. Think you can get us out with this?"
