The weight of a loss

Chapter 21

10 days had passed since they arrived in the Hamptons. Things got a lot better for both of them, especially for Kate. She wasn't fully recovered but she was feeling a lot better. She was finally opening herself up to Rick.
She still was under antidepressants which made her tired but at least she hadn't had suicidal thoughts anymore.
They had time for each other, out of the stress of New York and far from everyone.
All they did everyday was get some rest, enjoy the beach and the pool. And cuddle at night, talking for hours.

- "Babe, wake up!" Said Rick kissing Kate's lips
- "Hmm"
- "Come on Kate!"
- "Leave me alone." She groaned
- "Pleaaaaase." He begged her
- "What?" She said opening her eyes and turning to face him "What time is it?"
- "It's 10 am. Come on get up, I have a surprise for you!" He said all excited
- "Okay. Give me 5 mn."

He knew that morning wasn't easy for her with her treatment. It made her feel sleepy a lot. Usually he let her sleep but today he had planned something for them.
He laid next to her and took her in his arms. She rested her head on his chest and he carressed her hair slowly.
- "Babe, you're falling asleep." Said Rick after 15 mn
- "I'm not." She said smiling
- "I can see you."
- "I'm so tired."
- "I know. I'm gonna cook breakfast, find me in 10 mn in the kitchen." He said kissing her forehead and leaving.

- "Hey sleeping beauty." He said when she walked in the kitchen
She walked behind him and put her arms around his waist and rested her head on his back.
- "That smells good but I'm not hungry." She said still in a sleepy mood.
- "You have to eat Kate."
- "I know but I don't feel good this morning."
- "Is it your treatment?"
- "I don't know. Maybe."
- "We can cancelled what I had planned if you want."
- "No you sound so excited about it, I'll be fine don't worry."
- "Just eat something, you need to eat."
- "Okay, fine." She said sitting at the table.

An hour later they were ready to go.
- "Let's go!" He said all excited "Do you have your bathing suit?"
- "Yes I do. You're so cute when you're excited like that." She said smiling at him.
They drove for a few minutes and arrived at the harbor.
- "You rented a boat?" She asked.
- "Even better! You'll see"
- "I'm curious now!" She said suddenly excited too.
- "Come on" He said offering her his hand.

They walk to the harbor and stopped in front of a big yacht.
- "Wow you rented a yacht?!" She said all smiling.
- "Look at the name of the boat."
- "Katherine." She read "Oh my god. You bought this boat?!"
He looked at her, smiled and nodded.
- "I bought it for us!"
- "Wow babe! Why?"
- "Because I want to make my beautiful wife the happiest woman in the world!" He said looking at her. "I know how much you love boats."
- "Rick, thank you so much!"
She jumped in his arms and kissed him. He kissed her back and the kiss went harder. They had to break apart for air.
- "Let's get in!" He said taking her hand and walking in the boat.
