"Are you gonna get that?"
Mark sighed pulling his phone out of his pocket, cursing himself for not silencing it sooner. He had only just sat down, he had an appointment with a publisher. This cup of coffee could potentially change his life. Yet the constant ringing of his cellphone had interrupted such a crucial moment.
"Hello?" Mark said politely, excusing himself from the table as he made his way outside.
"Hyung?" a small voice on the other side of the line questioned.
"Jisung I'm in the middle of something really important. Can I call you later?" Mark asked as he looked back through the coffeeshop windows, seeing the publisher sitting in the chair, still sipping on the coffee slowly.
"Actually.... Chenle Jaemin and I we're playing a game to decide who had to do the dishes... and it got a little heated and now Jaemin is in the hospital." The younger paused, waiting for any reaction.
"What happened? Is he okay?" He asked, voice laced with concern.
"We were playing Jenga and Jaemin slipped on one of the bricks and he hit his head, there was a little bit of blood so we freaked out and brought him here."
"And you called me because?" Mark answered, emphasizing the "me" because after all, out of all their friends he's probably the least reliable in this kind of situation.
"Because they won't tell us anything since we aren't family, and we're both minors so it doesn't help. Plus your parents are out of town so we didn't have anyone else to call." Jisung said, rushing out every word.
"Lele will be an adult next month, tell them that." He replied, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"We did! and you're both his family and an adult so I figured maybe you could help...Jaemin is probably really scared being alone right now." Mark could hear Jisung on the other line sniffling, and he's right. Even if his injury is nothing serious, he's never been good with doctor visits, let alone a trip to the ER.
"I'll be there soon" He replied, immediately hanging up. Only to go back inside and walk away from his life changing coffee, because after all, his little brother was in the hospital. Making sure he's okay is more important than his career.
