Author's POV

"I'm sorry for being so selfish. But this is the first time I've gone against my parents. This is my first fight... with my father."

Historia whispered to herself as she slashed his titan heart, twice the size of her. Just as she did, she saw her father's past.

"There's no choice Mr Reiss. She has to leave. Ari has to leave in order to protect our family's name." A stranger said to Historia's father, Rod Reiss. Reiss heaved a heavy sigh as he looked at Alma, his mistress, crying and begging him to protect Ari. "Fine, I'll leave this matter to you. Just make sure that she is safe and no harm comes upon her." He instructed the stranger.

"Yes, my Lord."

Ari's POV

"What are you doing?! It hurts!" I screamed as a stranger grabbed my arm and pulled me out of my bedroom. "Daddy! Mommy! Help!" I shouted as I saw my parents stare at me as I was being taken away.

"Daddy! Mommy! What are you doing? Save me!" I kept screaming for them.

"Stop screaming already. Don't you see? Your parents are abandoning you." The stranger growled at me while tying my hands up with a thick rope. As I wiped my tears away with my shirt, I couldn't believe my eyes. My mother was crying as my father stared at me with emotionless eyes. They're really abandoning me? I knew that my mother is my father's mistress but how could they? I'm still their daughter. Why would they leave me?

I was 6 and a foolish young girl. I've always thought that no matter what living conditions I was in, I could live through it regardless, as long as I had my parents. It didn't matter that I didn't have a proper house. As long as I had a home... But now that they have chosen to abandon me. I have no other reason to live. I have no home to return to.

And that was when I was knocked out...

---

Cold.. Wet.. Hard..

I opened my eyes and I saw a light. Am I finally dead?

I saw a shadow approach me.

"Hey. Are you okay? What happened to you?" I blinked my eyes and saw a lady with dark hair. I tried to get up and fell back down again. My head hurts.. The lady helped me sit up and leaned me on the wall.

"What's your name?" she asked me. My name? What's my name?

"I'm Ari." I blurted out.

"What a beautiful name. You look really young. 6 or 7 years old? Where are your parents? Are you lost?"

"My parents? They abandoned me. I'm left with nothing and no will to live." I said as my eyes started to burn and tears formed.

"Ari. Don't say that. You're a beautiful young girl and I'm sure you'll grow up to be a fine woman. I have a son who's a few years older than you and I'm afraid that I might not live that long to see him grow up. But I never regretted giving birth to him. I'm sure your parents feel that as well. So live. Live to see them again."

I stared at the lady. As the moonlight shone on her face, I could see it in her face that she didn't have long to live. Her eyes were lifeless and her lips were  cracked and pale white. I hugged her tight and cried and cried. I cried so much that my eyes swell and made her shirt wet. She comforted me and took a small piece of bread out of her basket and offered it to me. I declined at first but she insisted that I needed to eat to get my energy back.

"Ari, I hope you will find a will to live. Life is short but it's worth living. Fight for yourself and you will end up in a much better place. I promise." She said as she stood up and walked away.
