I let out a deep sigh and smiled myself. One of my old childhood friends, Mathias, had invited me over for the summer. As friends, we two were inseparable. There had been longing to see him again in my heart. I packed my biggest suit case delicately and carefully, making sure I forgot nothing. I smiled to myself and hummed, reminiscing the past.
Buzz buzz.
My phone lit up. I received a text message. What if it's from Mathias, I thought.
Jacob <3:
Have a safe time while you're traveling today and text me as soon as you get there, okay?Oh yeah, Jacob. He's my best friend and boyfriend. He's my internet boyfriend though. I'm not ashamed to say that I met him online. He was the sweetest person I had ever met. The only bad part was he never left me alone. When he knew I had woken up, he always sent me really cute messages like "good morning beautiful" or "WAKE UP I NEED TO TELL YOU SOMETHING" depending on the mood he was in. It was about 10:00 and I would probably be at Mathias' house around 5:00 in the afternoon.
Hey I'm getting on the road now, I'll text you as soon as I can.
I pushed the send button and I quickly zipped up my bag and rolled it behind me. I slipped my phone into my coat pocket and locked my house up tight.
After the tiring drive, I pulled into the driveway of my friends house. I was so hyped, just thinking about hanging out with my best buddy again. I opened the car and slammed it shut, running to the front door. I knocked three times and twiddled with a misplaced strand of hair. I could hear multiple foot steps coming towards the door. First some small scratching and then it stopped suddenly and the door flung open.
"(Name)!" Mathias said pulling me into a tight embrace.
"Mathias! It's been too long!" I said. He had a small, white dog in one arm. I patted him on the back a few times and squeezed tightly once before releasing him, but he didn't let go. I smiled and he slowly backed out of the hug and then held my hands.
"I missed you so much! Do you need any help with your bags?" The concerned look in his eyes made me melt to my core, but I shook my head in denial.
"No, Mathias, you don't have to do that. There is only one bag anyway, I can handle it, but thank you," I said quickly and retreated to my car to get my things. I could hear Mathias walking behind me and so I gave a small laugh. "Fine I guess you can take my bag if you really want to..." I laughed off. I opened the trunk of the car and in it my bag laid. Mathias stepped in front of me and handed me the dog before he pulled the rolling bag out of the trunk in one swift movement. It would have took me forever to get my own bag out of there. I thanked him.Once we got back inside the house, Mathias initiated conversation.
"So, welcome to the house! Pretty chill right?" He said releasing the bag to close the door. I sat the dog back onto the ground.
"Ha! Yes. Sometimes I wonder how you manage to keep it so clean! You're so sloppy!"
"Uh.. Well there are other people who live here too you know. I don't clean at all still, so don't go in my room... Haha.."
"Huh?" Mathias quickly grabbed my wrist and smiled devilishly.
"They're actually all dying to meet you! They are all sitting in the living room! I promise it won't take long at all," he tried taking me by force.
"Mathias! Are you kidding me?! They?!" I panicked. No way was I good at meeting new people. It just wasn't my thing.
"Are you really just going to go back in your car and drive back home after your very long and tiring car ride? Come on they aren't that bad. They don't bite, unless you want them to if you know what I mean," he said quickly and wink. "Besides they all want to meet you, well except for one boy who we're forcing, but still." I sighed, which sounded more like a groan from pain. Yes I was dying on the inside.
"Fine Mathias, if it makes you happy then I guess-"
"Yay you're the best! Thank you!" He hugged me. Please kill me now, I thought silently.
