Her chest grew heavy, as if a ton of bricks was placed in her heart. She trusted him but he betrayed her.

Was this how Rapunzel felt when she took the moonstone as her own?

It's like her heart was being squished by an invisible hand. The growing feeling inside her heart turning into rage.

"How dare you do this?" She shouted. "The people of Corona are innocent!"

Varian let out a dark chuckle, a sound so foreign in her ears.

"Cassie. Cassie. Cassie." He took a series of steps towards her.

Her guard was up as she tightly held onto her sword.

"Don't act as if you didn't do this before."

Cassandra stood there, completely dumbfounded of the situation.

"You're right," she stated. "I did do this before. But you know what? I've changed and that was years ago. I know how it feels to get angry but this is not the way, Varian."

She knew that she had no escape. She was surrounded by the guards - their eyes unusually glowing bright violet.

"You still did it," he stated, his voice cold and distant.

"Don't divert the topic on me. My past does not define me, Varian," she raised her sword. "I asked you first, how dare you do this?!"

"How dare me?!" He shouted back at her. "I was the kid who became an orphan because of the princess! All I wanted was just a small amount of help but no one listened!" He ranted.

"And that's not an enough reason-"

"And your mother choosing Rapunzel over yoy is enough of a reason?"

He let out a mocking laugh. His eyes darkened. "Out of all the people I know, I thought you would understand how it feels to lose a parent!" He shouted, pain now visible in his eyes, his composure slipping away. "Didn't you get angry at Rapunzel when Gothel choose her over you?"

Her eyes widened. "How did you-"

"I have my sources."

"It wasn't her choice. She was just a-"

"Well, it was her choice to throw me out of the castle and not help me, wasn't it, Cassie?" He remarked with a snide.

"Don't. Call. Me. Cassie."

Varian let out another mocking chuckle and stood up straight, regaining his composure once again.

"You don't get to order me anymore, Cassie. Because as far as I know, I'm the King."

Cassandra's hold on her sword loosened because of the surge of emotion that she is feeling. How come everything turned out like this? She didn't even noticed that a guard jumped and took her sword while the others held both of her arms.

She raised her leg, ready to kick the both of them and escape when Varian opened his mouth.

"Try to escape then I'll pay the royal family a not so friendly visit," he threatened.

Cassandra froze. She can't take that chance to let her friends get hurt.

"Take her to the guestroom next to my room."

Guest room? Why? Shouldn't she be taken to the dungeon?

Is this alright? I hope this one is not too dark or anything. 🤣 So I'm really sorry if Varian don't act too canonically.
