Chapter 1
"Before you are taken off the medication can you tell me some things about yourself? You keep so much of your past hidden. If you want to can you please just tell me why?
What was so good about it? What is so bad about staying here and dealing with the truth. Tell me about this life that was supposedly so good before you woke up"
"Why, it's my life"
"I know sophie, you don't have to tell me anything. I'm asking you to. Please"
"But why? What's the point"
"Well telling me your story can potentially save so many other people. This disorder that you have others have to. Do you realize there are others that have gone through or will go through what you did. If you tell me your story, it will change lives for the better. Don't you want that?"
"Yes, I mean, of course but i don't know"
"I know you don't, but it's the right thing to do. I may not do anything with your story. I may just put it in a box under your name. Or I will publish it and people all over the world will understand this illness.""Your write, maybe I should, I mean what harm can it do?"
"Yes, exactly, so do you want to start today or now"
"Um sure, like from what"
"From the beginning. From the very start of your life. I want to hear everything. What was life like before you woke up"
"Everything?"
"Yes, I mean tell me everything you are willing and comfortable to share ofcourse. I'm going to record a little voice memo so i can write everything down later"
"Okay, are you going to write it like i say it or will you change it? I'm sorry it's just a lot to tell"
"No don't be sorry. I understand it is a lot and no if you mean will I change your story ofcourse not. I may change the way it is said. I may change speaking in past tense to present or I may change it to you being the main character, but I will never change the story"
"Okay"
"Do you trust me?"
"Yes, I do. I have known you my whole life I trust you"
"Okay, that's good and if you want you can take a look at other people's files that I have made. Sophie this is what I do and this recording is going to be on file"
"I know, okay, do you want me to start"
"Sure whenever you're ready. If you want we can step outside or take a break any time you want"
"Okay"
Hi my name is Rose, and I'm a normal teenage girl. I'm sixteen, I go to Maple Ridge High School, and to be honest, I really love my life. My dad is a pediatrician and my mom works as a fourth grade teacher. My parents are absolutely amazing. I know it's totally lame, but I love spending time with them. They're both extremely smart and the hardest workers I know. They really inspire me and support me on everything. I think when I'm older maybe I want to be a doctor like my Dad. I also have a younger brother and an older sister. My brother is five and my sister is eighteen. I also have a German Shepherd. My parents aren't rich, but we do have a lot of money. I live in a really nice house and go to a really nice school. But don't worry, I'm grateful for everything I have. I also have a great group of friends. My best friend's name is Maddie, and we have been friends since we were in elementary school. In middle school we were the ones that brought my group together. We still have sleepovers almost every weekend and tell each other everything. I love her to death and If I didn't have her I don't know what I would do. I also have an amazing group of friends. It's me, Maddie, Jade, and Ben. Were all super tight. Every few days, when we're all free, we go to a little coffee shop, right down the street from my house. Just the four of us. Maddie and I are the serious ones in the group. We are the ones always talking about our future goals, how we have been, stuff like that. Jade and Ben are the opposite. They think there comedians, but really there just dumb. They are the most obnoxious in our group. I have a really good group of friends. I have an amazing family, and I'm so grateful that I go to such a good school and I have the opportunity to do whatever I want to in the future.
