Danny's POV
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"We're here." My dad spoke finally, hours later. Ben was asleep in the seat beside me, but I found it impossible to even try to sleep.
"I'll wake Ben." I mumbled and turned to him.
"I'm awake." He said.
"Oh." I sat up and yawned. He did the same before I looked through the window and gasped. The first thing I noticed was the giant stone wall that surrounded the lawn. However, the giant steel gates were slowly opening for us to enter. Besides that, nothing could possibly get into the yard. The next thing I noticed was that we were in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees, but the yard had only two trees, both towering over a large pond. I looked further and noticed a third tree, a willow, with its long limbs falling over a garden swing.
"Danny, look at the house." Ben touched my hand. I looked over and a huge smile crept onto my face. It was bigger than my house, and absolutely beautiful, with brick walls and a tall chimney. There were two large windows on the downstairs, and four smaller windows viewable by the upstairs. Dad parked the car and we got out.
"Officer Frank said that no one knows about this place except him and his family. Would you boys like to sit outside for a while? Ben, I know you haven't been outside since you got to our home." Dad looked at us. Ben smiled a happy, genuine smile before grabbing me and pulling me to the pond. I saw my parents finish into the house and Ben hugged me.
"You know, I'm really sorry you guys were brought into this... You don't deserve it." He whispered. I sighed and looked at him.
"How many times do I have to say it until you realize we want to help? Because we do. And I'm sure that they love you around just as much as I do." I put a hand on his shoulder. He blushed and looked down. "Okay but in all seriousness, why are you so fidgety today and yesterday? I know no one slept last night because we were in the car, but even yesterday you were like all awkward and fidgety."
"N-nothing... Just a dream I had." He stepped back and looked into the pond.
"Oh, you mean the kiss?" I asked. His head jersey up and his face went deep red. "Sorry, but it wasn't a dream."
"Oh." He mumbled. I looked down and felt myself blush too.
"Um... Sorry, I shouldn't have kissed you, Ben. You probably didn't want to, and I was just being stupid." I sighed before he looked over at me.
"Don't be sorry. I just... wish I remembered it more." He looked back down and I looked over at him before putting a hand on his side and pulling him close. He looked at me awkwardly before I gently laid my lips on his. He froze up for a moment and I debated pulling away before he started to kiss back. I pulled him closer and kissed him more, making him awkwardly groan and wrap his thin arms around me. After a few minutes, he pulled back. He just shook his head and burried his face in my chest. I sighed and leaned my head on him before attempting to speak. I looked over to see the sun rising more.
"We should get inside soon." I mumbled. He nodded before we walked inside. We looked around the house for a while before deciding to go to our rooms and go to sleep.
I woke up later to bright light coming through the window. I sat up and walked over to the window, looking out over the yard. My eyes landed on the willow tree and the swing under it. On the swing, I saw a mess of brown hair and thin frame, gently rocking back and forth on the swing with his head low. He was doing something, but I couldn't tell with his back to me. I backed away from the window and put a shirt on before stepping outside. He looked over slightly before doing something again and leaning back. I walked over and sat beside him and pulled out a pack of cigarettes.
