Poem: Cupid's Curse. By Lauren Campbell

Smitten I was with the outlaw,
In my eyes he had not flaw,
Clyde barrow, that was his name,
A name that would soon rise to fame,
We talked, we fell in love,
A gift he was-a gift from above!
And when he went away I provided the key,
And an escaped prisoner was he,
But life would only get worse,
For the irony of Cupid's arrow: most times it is not gift...but curse.

The path I chose was mine,
At first it seemed divine,
But little did I know,
It would end a tragic show.

A sight it was to see,
A shock it was for me,
One clean shot,
And the notorious Clyde survived it not.

He seemed powerful, undefeated: Clyde,
But by GOD's law we must abide,
"Death is the wages of sin"
And law will always win.

We had not opportunity to fight,
On May 23rd Daylight,
We paid our price,
Bullets flew, plenty as rice.

I would love to say that I would have chosen a different path if I knew it was the end,
And maybe I am crazy but for Clyde I would choose that path again.
