When a baby sparrow learns to fly, it opens its wings and falls from a branch, in hopes its wings will take it higher into the sky. However if it's not their time, instead they will plummet to the ground. A broken wing for a sparrow is a death sentence.
"Welcome to Shirashi Academy" a mellow voice echoes around the hall, filled with students waiting, just waiting to hear the verdict.
Pass, or fail.
Much like a sparrow these two options could mean life and death. But if you don't take the plummet, you'll never know the outcome.3 years ago
"Welcome new students, I am your head teacher. My name is Melrose Shirashi, this year will be fairly easy. As we will be building your skills ready for your second year. Consider this a years break, with work that is above average. Now it is true that our school only has a 26% pass rate, those then go on to becoming the top dogs, if you want to say, in their kingdoms and realms" she stands firm, her back straight, never losing her posture, like a well-trained circus animal she waits for the applause.
As that happens, she smiles and looks down at the notes that she had made prior to the assembly. She flicks through the pages, each time a page tears a bit at the corner. That sound also echoes throughout the hall, students now fidgeting and sweating from each tear. Looks of dread and anguish, as she finally stops on a page.
All eyes were on her.
"im glad to see I have your attention" Melrose moves from the stand her long blond hair, trails behind her, each step she takes is long and without hesitation. She knows where she's going. She heads over to two students, far in the corner in the darkness. "I will now introduce you to the student council. Who also happen to be my Children. They to started this year, but have proven themselves exponentially, if you have any queries please don't hesitate to ask them" the two students appear from the dark, both had brown hair and hazel eyes. They would remind anyone of puppets on a string, its like they acted against their own will. Obeying the head teachers every word.
"Hello, my name is Akira Shirashi, my Orion is technology, anything involving it I can master and reshape" she sounded like a robot, like she herself was a piece of technology, a program that could be switched on and off. The boy standing next to her stood silent, blinking only once throughout her whole introduction.
"My name is Blake Kenesis, my Orion is telekinesis, I can move things using my mind. I can also levitate my body from the ground" levitation, Blake could truly be the only one who can reach the summit, if only his wings weren't shackled by the overwhelming feeling of achievement. The students greet the pair, and as the assembly reaches its end, many of the students, feel the weight that leaving the room will bring. Many hesitate. Some crouch down and tears are shed, in the fear of becoming the no one of the future.
Hesitation... Fear... The sparrow doomed to die. This is the place where you have a 26/100% chance of meeting the sparrows end. And yet, here they were. Waiting for judgement. Seven homerooms, twenty four students to each one, no more no less. One hundred and sixty eight students to each year. Three years in total, five hundred and four students altogether. And around forty three will make it out the nest alive.
Today they rest. Tomorrow they fight.
