Nick Fury's POV

"Getting soft are you Pirate?" Teased Tony,

I rolled my eyes (A/N: well eye) and focused on the screen.

"I think he might be~" continued Clint.

"Shut up, Barton." I said shuffling into a comfortable position.

Leo was shifting through a trash can, trying to find something to eat. It had been a few days since he had killed that man and the voice had made itself comfortable in his mind.

'[This is nasty]' said the voice with a gag.

'This is the best we can do at the moment' Leo replied rolling his eyes but also gagging a bit.

I heard Peter gag a bit too and huffed.

"Hey! Get out of there!" exclaimed someone who was passing the alley's entrance.

Leo yelped as he was tackled to the ground, his hands pinned roughly against his back.

"I-I didn't do anything!" Yelped Leo.

"Shut up street rat! You were going through my trash!" sneered the man pulling Leo up by the scruff of his neck and walked him into the back of the store.

"Why did the man care about him going through the trash?" Asked Thor, "Was he going to use the trash for something?"

"No Thor, people just don't like others going through their garbage." Answered Steve.

"That is stupid. I will never understand you mortals." Hummed Loki rolling his eyes.

"Sit your ass down, while I call the police." Scolded the man as he walked to the other side of the room, not taking an eye off of the dirty boy.

Leo looked down and twiddled his thumbs, his hands had a slight tremor. He was going to cry.

'[No! don't cry infront of this stranger, idiot.]'

'Why not? I already look pathetic.'

'[Don't let others see your cry it is a useless thing to do in these times.]'

Leo squeezed his eyes shut tightly, 'Crying right now seems like the right thing to do-'

'[NO! YOU ARE BEING WEAK]'

"No don't listen to it..." I heard Peter whisper at the screen, I almost wanted to do the same... Almost.

Flinching at the tone the voice had taken his eyes shot open to see the man was no longer in the room. The feeling of sadness seemed too had dissipated.

'Where do you think he went?'

'[I don't know, want to go look?]'

Scared of what would happen if he moved from the seat he kept himself planted firmly on it.

'What? No he said not to leave the chair.'

'[Pussy]'

In the corner of my eyes I saw Steve open and close his mouth like a fish out of water.

The man came back into the room with a woman in a police uniform.

"Here is the scab," hissed the shop keeper, "Found him out back going through the trash-"

"Thank you," The policewoman cut him off, "I will take it from here."

The man glared at the woman but then walked off back to the front of the store.

"Hello there, what is your name?" asked the woman kneeling don to Leo's level.

'[Don't trust her-]'

"Leo."

The lady smiled, "Well my name is Amber. Are you willing to come down to the station?"

"Y-yes-"

'[No! she is going to use you! Don't trust her.]'

Amber smiled and held out her hand to Leo. The small boy grabbed the woman's hand against the voices wishes.

'[Ignoring me now are you? Well we will see what happens when you need me next.]'

After the voice spoke it was quiet and Leo and Amber walked out of the store.

"I really don't like that voice." Stated Tony crossing his arms and slumping down on the couch.

"I don't think any of us likes the voice," Bucky said glaring at his nails.

"But if it is his conscience, shouldn't it be good?" asked Steve with his head tilted.

"Maybe it is someone talking to him via his thoughtsss....?" Pietro trailed off unsure of his own words.

"Well that is a possibility I don't know which theory is the right one since it is likely that Leo doesn't even know which one it was-" Bruce deduced before stopping at the glare that Tony was giving him, mentally telling him to, 'Shut up'.

"Maybe his conscience just isn't good in general." Shrugged Peter as the next memory played.

Leo was sitting on a chair next to Amber's desk, swinging his legs back and forth. The police station wasn't that scary and a lot of people just ignored the small boy.

Leo didn't mind though, he liked being in the background. Though there was always a small nagging fear of being forgotten by everyone.

The elfish child never paid much attention to that fear, because what are the chances of someone forgetting a living being.

Amber came back and sat down at her desk, "Leo would you like to come and stay with me for a while? Just until the foster care system finds you a proper home?"

Thinking back to what happened in the last house Leo shivered, "D-do I have to go back to other houses?"

Amber's eyes held sympathy, "Well yes but that might not happen for a while, okay?"

Nodding his head, Leo looked to where the holding cell was. There were strangers that snarled at him, instead of looking away he carefully stared back.

He saw a few of them shiver and look away.

Amber grabbed her bag and held her hand out to Leo, who stared at it.

"Take her hand Leo... Please..." I heard Peter say in a small voice.

Slowly Leo tore his eyes from her hand and looked at her eyes, Ambers smile faltered for a second but as fast as it slipped it was replace.

She put her hand down and ushered Leo to walk with her, as she is walking off Leo reaches for her hand and holds it.

Amber lightens up and smiles walking off to the car.

The screen fades and we are all left to our own minds, no one talks but I can somewhat read what everyone else is thinking.

Please let this kid catch a break.
