"SAM?!" I exclaimed.
Freaking out, I took off upstairs. I suddenly felt nauseous and barricaded myself in my bedroom. I went and sat beside my bed, tucking my knees into my chest. Slowly I began to rock back and forth as a form of comfort.
It's okay, I thought to myself. I can do this. I have got this. I am a strong woman and I have been through so much worse than this.
"What the hell was that for my son?" Samuel asked.
"Dad, why is she here?" Sam asked his father nervously.
"That is Adi, Lori's daughter. Oh, come on, I told you about this."
Samuel grabbed Sam's hand and led him to the game room.
"Here, this is Aiden, Adi's twin. I know this is tough, but they are your new step-brother and sister."
Leaving the two boys to get acquainted, Samuel went to help mom set the table and prepare for dinner.
"Hey, dude, what's up?" Aiden greeted Sam with a wave.
"Not much man, nice to meet you. Hey, will you excuse me for a moment Aiden? I need to go clean up before dinner."
"Yeah, no problem. Nice meeting you too." Aiden said, quickly averting his attention back to the Order of the Phoenix.
*Sam's POV*
It is weird pulling up to my Dad's house today. It has been a couple of years since I was meeting "new step siblings." It is strange to say, being 18, you don't expect to meet someone and welcome them as your brother or sister overnight. However, I know that is what my father expects me to do again.
Approaching the door, I do not feel nervous, solely curious more or less. This is not my first rodeo and doubtfully will be my last. I debated about knocking on the door, but hell, this has been my house longer than it has been Lori's and her children's home. I let myself in. Instantly, I am taken aback.
I cannot believe she is in my house and in my designated sitting spot. She looks lovely in her shorts, vans, and oversized sweater. Her long red hair is pulled into a bun, and she has on square glasses that are too big for her freckled, pale face. She is starting to look uneasy. I don't know if Lori and Dad told her my name or if she even remembers me.
Dad keeps trying to get my attention, but I have so many questions, concerns, and worries now. I know my father has no idea what he has done, but there is no way this can end well.
*" Sam?!" *
There it goes. I guess I need to go talk to her, but after this I need to distance myself as much as possible, if that is possible.
My peace and quiet got interrupted when I heard footsteps approaching. No one knocked, but I heard the door creek open.
"Thank God, Aiden, come here." I whispered.
I assumed it was my brother because no one else should have the nerve to walk into my room unannounced. However, it was not him.
"Samuel," I said. I gave him a death glare.
"Look Adelaide, I'm so sorry about what happened. I do not want things to be weird between us, okay? Your secret is safe with me."
I grabbed his jacket and pushed him against my bed. "How dare you drug me! And then do what with me? What did we do Sam because I do not remember!"
I was equally hurt and terrified.
"Shhhh, keep it down Adelaide."
"Excuse me? Did you just shush me?" Right then he placed a finger over my mouth.
