I had a dream I got everything I wanted but when I wake up I see you with me

"Anything happen today?" Tom asked before he took a bite of his sandwich.

"In English Audrey purposefully spilled the rest of her coffee on the essay I was working on." I said softly while picking at my food.

"What is up with everyone and spilling stuff on you." He asked referring to the incident with John and Liam.

"I know right." I chuckled softly. "I did have a dream though."

Tom always liked it when I told him about my dreams. He says he likes what goes on in my mind sometimes. Of course the stuff that isn't depressing.

"Really."

I nodded with a small smile.

"Tell me about it."

"Well it was sort of like the part two of the dream I had a couple weeks ago. You know when we ruled the world and my bullies bowed down to us." I explain.

He nodded his head with a smile  and waited for me to continue.

"Well in this one, no one wanted to work for us. They didn't like having to wash our clothes all day and make our food. So they begged for forgiveness. They said sorry for all the wrongs they did to me."

Tom seemed lost. Like he was listening but he wasn't at the same time. He was looking deep into my eyes and watching my mouth as I spoke. His smile grew as I kept talking.

"I told them no. I told them there was nothing they could do to right the wrongs they did. That there was no forgiveness in me for them. I went to my room and looked out my window. And there was this beautiful view of the sky as it set. And you were right next to me. A smile on your face as you watched the sunset with me." I smiled.

"That sounds amazing, Y/n."

"Yeah, it was pretty nice."

"You know you are better than them. You're better than everyone in this whole cafeteria." Tom said.

"I'm the only person in the cafeteria with depression. I'm pretty I'm the worst in here."

"You could never be the worst in my eyes."

Just as everything was fine for the moment, someone came and dumped food on my head.

Laughter came from the attacker's mouths. Soon enough from everyone's mouth.

I saw the look of disappointment in Tom's.

I got up from bench and ran out of the cafeteria to the bathroom.

I heard Tom's footsteps behind but he knew he couldn't come in the girls bathroom.

He had to stay outside while I cried, thinking: 'out of all the people in school. They just had to choose me. Why me?'

"Y/n?" I heard Tom say. "Y/n, I'm sorry."

"You don't have to be sorry, Tom. It's not your fault you didn't do anything." I said while placing my hands on the edge of the sink and looking down.

"It's not your fault either." He said softly.

"What if it is? What if they decided to pick on me because they knew that it would break me?"

"Everyone is vulnerable, Y/n. But, you can't keep it all inside. Bottling it up won't do any good. And hey, I know you're hurting but you're not alone, okay." Tom said softly.

I knew Tom was right. I wasn't alone. I wanted to be sometimes.

I looked into the mirror, seeing the tears that others had caused. "How did I ever give someone the power to fuck me up this bad?"
