The Friend Zone

Chapter 1

" She knew this wasn't the last time she'd have to run, but that didn't bother her, because now she had someone who could tell her that she was beautiful even when she thought different. At that they rode the train to wherever it would take them."
I closed the book i had just finished and sat it I my dresser. "Why can't I find someone like that? Who's willing to appreciate me for me?" I got up out of my bean bag and sat my glasses on my desktop. I got out my computer and looked at all my pictures of me and my friends. All my friends knew I wasn't like them.... I didn't care about my hair, or my makeup or what I wore. I just threw on my sweats, and one of my many Fangirl t-shirts. Then I put my glasses on, threw my hair in a high ponytail, then I threw on my sneakers, my backpack full of books and headed out the door.
I closed my laptop and got ready for the new year or middle school. Then I ate breakfast and got on the bus on the way to the prison they call middle school.
When I got to school it was way different than elementary. I saw my friends Anna, Heather, Macy, and Josie and ran up to them. We all looked like we hadn't seen each other in years, we were hugging in the middle of the hallway and everybody was staring at us. Then we all were comparing schedules to see if any of us had classes together, And guess what?.......We all only had one class with all of us together..This year was going to suck. Then I saw him.... I completely started drooling. I swear I think I drooled a puddle the size of lake Eerie. "Sky!Sky! Earth to sky!"said Anna. "What?oh sorry.." I looked down at my feet and then Heather looked at the kid then bumped into me. "I'm gonna go ask him his name for you." She started walking over towards the kid when I snapped back into reality... What...the..heck was heather about to do!? I started running after her, when I slipped on my shoelace and fell right into his arms.... My heart felt as if it was going to pop out of my chest.. I froze and stared into his eyes. They were dreamy, he was a brunette with blue eyes the color of the ocean..I heard Heather giggling so I climbed off of him. He stared at me and smiled. "Hey, I'm Ben." He held out his hand and I shook it. It was warm and felt like honey, soft and warm. I laughed. "I'm so sorry, I'm very clumsy. Thanks for catching me." I said with a crack of nervousness in my voice. I saw him stuff something into his backpack, really fast. It was hard and had a picture a blurry shape that almost seems to be a tree...a tree with a carving in it..... A book....wait I knew that book! It was the book I had just finished this morning. "Us" was the book. "Sorry, that's just a book I borrowed from the library." He said. Then, like a group of synchronised robots we said "Us" at the exact same time..... Omg it was like 4th of July party was going on inside of my heart.... I couldn't breathe. We stared at each other for what felt like a decade of silence. Heather had gone and my friends were staring at me and giggling, and josie clapped. I'm so glad to call them my friends.Ben then took out a piece of paper and wrote down a number... He handed the paper to me. "Here's my number if you wanna have like a book club or something." "Or something." I thought. He ran his slim fingers through his brown hair and smiled. Then he shut his locker and said "I never did catch your name." I bit my lip then said "sky." And then he said something that made my heart melt. " a beautiful name for beautiful girl." Then He walked away in his blue converse down the hall. I heard squealing and turned to remember my clique of my BFFS standing there jumping up and down dancing..I walked over still thinking about him...Ben. "SKY OH MY GAWD YOU HAVE TO ASK HIM OUT!!" Said Anna jumping up. Heather looked at me and winked and said "You've got him girl." Macy and Josie were dancing around. I was as red as a rose but I didn't care.... I had just found my Romeo, the one I had dreamed about and thought only existed in books. The rest of the day his name float in my head like a float in a pool...Ben..
