Monday morning, Carter woke up in pain, dizzy, and nauseous, signalling what time of the month it was. “Nooooo,” She groans, snapping up and dashing to the bathroom, losing all food from the night before. “Is it sick week?” Ella asks and leaves to grab her sister some water when she sees the attempt of a nod.
Carters period has always been hell since it started seven years ago when she was nine. So once Ella could walk and understood that puking was bad, she learned the phrase sick week and how to get a cup of water.
Before the four year old could grab the cup of water, she heard a knock on the door. “Don’t answer it!” Carter manages to yell as she catches her breath against the bathroom wall. “We know you’re home,” One starts, “And we’re your ride to school,” They finish together and Ella squeals, pulling the door open and throwing herself against their legs. Carter manages to pull herself up and stumble out with a hand pressed against her stomach, no glasses and frizzy hair.
“Are you sick?” Hikaru questions and Carter just shakes her head, “Ask the kid so I can get dressed,” She mumbles, stepping back into her room and shutting the door. “What’s with her?” Kaoru questions as he was told making sure the child doesn’t fall as she climbs onto the counter and pulls out a cup.
“Carebear is sick every month for…” Ella begins and counts on her fingers before nodding and continuing, “Ten days. Sometimes she falls asleep really fast standing up,” The twins are quick to realise this means bad period with passing out as a commonality. “Good to know,” The two mutter, going up to the bedroom door and knocking, “Hey, are you dressed?” They ask and Carter groans from the otherside.
“Semi?” She responds, only in a bra and denim shorts as she looks through shirts and sweaters. “Good enough,” They say, walking in and instantly seeing her clothing choices, pushing her to sit on the bed while they pick out her top and Ella hands her sister her water. “Y’know, it’s kind nice you’re poor,”
“Yeah, you don’t have to wear that yellow monstrosity,” The twins state, holding up a cropped, light blue sweater with clouds all over it, “Carebear looks bad in yellow,” Ella shrugs, grabbing the outfit she had picked out the night before and changing into it, despite the males, making Carter groan, “Ella! We had this conversation, you’re not supposed to change or undress in front of people unless they’re family!”
“You said Hikaru and Kaoru are you brothers!” The twins laugh as Carter slaps her face in frustration. “Fine, Host Club is family,” She mutters, attempting to slip the sweater on without hurting her arm, ultimately failing and pouting up at the twins. “Help?”
The three manage to work together with Ella’s encouraging words and get Carter into the sweater. “How the hell did you manage to get a bra on?” Hikaru asks while he slips white vans on her feet and Kaoru pack lunches with Ella. “Haruhi helped me put it on yesterday and I fell asleep in it,”
“Hey Hikaru, we need to go now if we’re going to drop off Ella and still make it to class on time,” Kaoru says, holding up four box lunches. “Why did you make four?” Hikaru asks and Carter grins at Ella, “Good, you’re learning,” Carter says, grabbing her bag and Ellas before both are ripped from her hands by the twins.
“Learning what?” The twins question while assisting Carter down the stairs with Ella behind them, “If they’re next to you or will be and deserve it, make them some too,” Ella recites, smiling when her sister nods, but the small motion makes her freeze.
“Tissue?” Ella asks and the twins see the nod, pulling some out of thin air and watching with wide eyes as Carters nose starts bleeding into the tissue she held to it. “Does this happen every month?”
“For ten days. I have about two hours before the cramps make me puke again,” Carter says, muttering with a sigh as the blood soaks through the tissues. “That’s not normal or good,”

“Is she sick?” Tamaki asks, hiding behind a very concerned Kyoya when the twins carry in a very droopy Carter. “Not contagious,” Carter groans, curling in on herself when the twins set her on the couch. “Her mom used to be like this too, guess it runs in the family,” Haruhi shrugs, grabbing the heat pad from under the water boiler and placing it on Carters lower back, nodding in relief when she hears the pleased sigh. “Ah, so it’s that time of the month, then,” Kyoya hums, and the twins nod dramatically. “She cramped so bad she threw up most of second period and she keeps getting nose bleeds,”
“She also passed out on the way to fourth period,” Haruhi adds as Mori and Honey walk in. “Yeah, she was between us, so she didn’t hit the ground or anything,” Hikaru shrugs. “Ella warned us this morning, she called it ‘sick time’ and said it lasts ten days,” Kaoru continues happily accepting the cup of coffee from Haruhi.
“What’s going on?” Honey asks, he and Mori going directly to Carters side. “Sounds like endometriosis and a blood clotting problem,” Kyoya hums, “Were you carrying her because of her cramps?”
Haruhi is the one to answer with, “Kind of? The cramps are in her thighs as well, so in the middle of walking her legs seized up and tripped her,” That was all Kyoya needed. “Alright, afternoon classes were cancelled anyway, so I will call the doctor to come in earlier. For now, I want someone to get some caffeine into her,”
Honey grabs one of the cups of coffee and carries it over, but Mori shakes his head at it, “American,” He grumbles, getting up and taking the cup with him, going to the fridge in the back and mixing cream, sugar, and chocolate syrup into the coffee. Pouring it over ice like the video he watched the previous night said to do and taking it to Carter, whom Honey had managed to get sitting up.
“Wow, where did you learn how to make american coffee, Mori Senpai?” Tamaki asks, watching the gentle giant press the cup to Carters lips. “Youtube,” Is all he says while smirking in success as Carter gives him a weak thumbs up before shakily pushing the cup away.
She freezes all movements to look at the twins who recognise the look not only from the car, but also two separate occasions in class that day, making them mad dash for the box of tissues. “Mori senpai, you’re in the splash zone,” Hikaru says, handing a wad of tissues to Carter. “What does that mea-oh,” Honey pouts as the tissues against Carters face become crimson and heavy.
“Mommy! Our daughter is bleeding!” Tamaki exclaims and Kyoya chuckles, “In more ways than one, dearest Daddy,” The Ootori chuckles and everyone snickers, even Carter, which goes south since it sends the blood from her nose into her mouth, making her choke and cough.
“Carebear?” Ella calls from the doors as she walks in with Mori and Honeys limo driver and a doctor. “I need your shirt off for blood pressure, blood draw, and an abdominal feel to make sure you don’t have a tumor anywhere in there,”
Carter looks up at Haruhi and the twins, who nod and help carefully maneuver the sweater off of her, Tamaki turning red while Mori slightly blushes and escorts Honey to the cake table. “The twins have become so caring in such a short amount of time, don’t you think Mommy?” Tamaki squeals and Kyoya hums, “Yes, Daddy dearest,” He mumbles and Carter, having the scary good hearing to make up for the eyesight, bursts into painfilled laughter with groans mixed in.
“Why are you laughing?” Haruhi asks, sliding the last of the shirt off of her friends fingers. “Kyoya and Tamaki are such dorks,” She giggles with a grimace while the twins lay her down on the couch. “Let me know if it hurts too bad,” The doctor says and Carter tenses as cold hands press over her belly. “If you press on my stomach, I might puke again,”
“Okay, so the puking is a result of your anemia,” The doctor starts, leaning back and pulling out a notepad, “I have three ideas of what this could be, but I believe everyone except Kyoya and Haruhi should leave the room,” Carters brows furrow as the twins help her sit up before all of the people not mentioned leave the room with Ella in tow.
“I will be referring you to a OBGYN for further assessment on this specific situation, but have you ever had sexual relations where fluids were exchanged?” The doctor asks and Carter hesitantly nods. “Okay, were you ever tested for pelvic inflammatory disease?”
Carters eyes widen with Kyoyas as the teen tries to remember the papers from the clinic she went to the previous year. “Ummm, yes. That was one of the tests they ran, I was negative,” Carter states and Kyoya huffs a breath of relief while the doctor crosses off one of the things on her list, “Alright, that leave the possibility of Endometriosis and/or Uterine Fibroids. The later is easier to treat as there are some non invasive treatments. Endo is a little more difficult as I’m sure you know from your family history.”
With that said, the doctor quickly gets through the basic motor skill checks and wound assessment before packing her stuff while Haruhi and Kyoya assist Carter in redressing. “Kyoya ordered pain medication for you yesterday and I agree with his choice, so here is your first fill with your prescription order. It should help with the cramping enough to help you function. No more than four a day, no more than two within eight hours,” Kyoya hands the woman a check and watches her leave as the rest of the club walks in.
“Hey Kyoya, what was the other referral paper she handed you?” Carter asks and Kyoya hands it to her without looking. Carter takes one look at it before groaning and curling back up on the couch, “I get it!” She groans, falling asleep as the three therapist recommendations sound off in her head on repeat.
