After Ethan told Mia’s parents about her drug addiction, they all decided she needed help. Mia thought that it was normal because she was just depressed and stressed out because of the whole Katherine thing, but, that’s probably the side effects of drugs, not caring about the consequences.

So, Mia agreed to be sent to rehab for a few months, believing them that she’ll get better and won’t be a drug addict anymore. They were sending her to The Blue Mountains house of hope rehab facility in Berks County next week.

She didn’t complain, or yell, because she knows that what she’s going through is hard and she wouldn’t be able to stop herself without help. But, that didn’t mean that she wasn’t angry at them for sending their own daughter away, but, there was also a small part of her that thought that this was for her own good.

Here she was, in the backseat of her dad’s car as her parents drove her away to The Blue Mountains house of hope where she would be spending the next two or possibly three months at.

She looked out the window and watched as the trees pass by in a blur and the road went by in fast motion. After the two hour drive, the car comes to a stop, signaling that they’ve reached their destination.

Her parents looked at each other for a moment and then opened the car doors for them to get out. Mia gets out of the car, and closes the door while waiting for her parents to get her stuff out of the trunk.

As they silently walked to the entrance, Mia was having mixed feelings. She was angry at her parents for sending her away. She was scared at the fact that she would spend her time here alone, without Ethan nor Katherine.

Mia sits down at the waiting area while her parents sign and fill out some forms. After a few minutes, a lady whom she assumes is a nurse, walks over to her.

“Excuse me, are you Mia Charles Anderson?” she asks. Mia nods and she smiles at her. “Well Mia, it’s time to go. Say good bye to your family,” she says as Mia slowly looks at her parents, her bottom lip trembling.

“I’m going to miss you guys so much,” she says and cries into her mom’s shoulder. They all hug and say their good byes, and that’s when Mia finally makes her way to the patients.

On her way to her room, which was in hallway C, she passes by a bunch of patients but doesn’t pay much attention. She focuses on walking to her room, and when she finally reaches it, the nurse speaks.

“Okay, this is your room which you’ll be staying at for the next two or three months, so, make yourself at home.” She says sympathetically and Mia sighs while looking at the gray walls.

“I think you’ll love it here in Pennsylvania.” Ella said excitedly.

“Mom, you say that to every state we visit,” Katherine replied.

The next ten minutes were spent in complete silence until Nick broke it.

“What’s in your mind, kid?” Nick asks exhaustedly after yawning for what felt like the millionth time.

“I miss my friends back home,”

“Oh, don’t worry. You’ll make new friends here,” Nick says and looks over at Ella, whom is sleeping peacefully with her head leaning against the window.

“I hope so. I’m not used to being the new girl.”

“Class, meet Katherine Stewart, she’ll be joining us today in English Lit. Help her feel welcomed and help her find her way around school.” Principle Adams said.

“Hello, Katherine. I’m Jack Turner, but, you can call me Mr. Turner. Please, take a seat.”

“Thanks, Mr. Turner,”

Katherine made her way through class and sat at the end corner of the class, considering it was the only seat available next to a blond-haired boy whom caught her staring at him and flashed her a smile.

“Ethan, where’s your homework?” the teacher asked and the boy turned to face him.

_

Lunch break.

Katherine took a tray and filled her plate with some chicken salad and chocolate pudding with a orange juice box.

She held her tray and walked through the cafeteria in search of an empty seat she could occupy. Across the room, at the end of the cafeteria, she caught a glimpse of the blond boy she sat next to.

He waved at her and motioned for her to come join him and a brunette girl seated across him. She joined their table and placed her tray on the table in front of her.

“Katherine, meet Mia. Mia, meet Katherine. Oh, and I’m Ethan.” The boy spoke.

“Hi Katherine, nice to meet you.” The girl said with a grin.

“Nice to meet you too, Mia.”

Mia’s eyes water while she stares at the photo of them in second grade. They looked happy and they were together. Nothing could get in the way of their friendship, but, now everything has changed.
