Arc 1 – «Birth»
Chapter 1: Hunting Day.
Another warm day in the Zen'gaare Grave Desert.
Well... obviously, it's pretty hot, because- well. It's a desert. And deserts are hot. Dangerous too, as you might already know. However, the knowledge you have of deserts would be useless in this one. Because much time has passed since «modern day». A lot of time. And as time pass, the game of survival increases its bet minimums.
Zelles crawled forward in her camouflaged shelter, using an Adam Turtle's dead shell as a base. Painted and covered in dirt and specialized paint, as to mimic the smell of Sandgrain, a type of grass that only lives on these sandy planes, as well as part of the Giraggro's main diet. It was also mantled by plucked Sandgrain. As she advanced towards the Giraggro- her prey- she couldn't help but notice vibrations in the sand. Strange, she thought. She couldn't sense anything other than the Giraggro and a few insects and lizards here and there.
She advanced forward, extra careful of ambushes. The giraggro is a fearsome beast, you could say a combination of a giraffe and a tiger. Might sound ridiculous, but this omnivorous beast present large difficulties to other beasts and people alike- wielding a lethal display of sharp fangs, teeth, a keen sense of smell and fearsome jaws. But it cannot produce vibrations, nor can it dig underground, thus Zelles' alarmed advance. She stopped right behind it, approximately 3 meters away from its hind-feet. Giraggros have a keen sense of smell and fleeting eyes, but they are none the less proud and cocky creatures. Zelles' stealthy approach did not alarm it, as it probably thought it was just some knoll of grass it had neglected to see until now.
Zelles prepared for the strike. Spear in the left hand, fireball in the right. Counting to three, she knocked the shell over and sparked her assault. Whispering «Panzerfaust» as she unleashed three consecutive fireballs homing towards the giraggro in an arcing manner. Two hits, third one was dodged, as the giraggro jumped away from its path.
Growling, it circled around while aiming its murderous eyes at Zelles, who prepared her spear for a defensive maneuver. Then, without warning, the giraggro spun around, causing a cloud of sand to appear, vanishing from Zelles' sight. Before she even knew it was behind her, she was struck by one of its powerful paws in the back, flailing her over the sands before she regained herself and landed on her feet. Within split-seconds, the giraggro was already right before her, preparing its jaws for a bone-crushing bite. Countering the offense, Zelles jabbed the spear forward, stabbing the giraggro in one of its eyes. In return, it fell back and swung its neck towards Zelles, aiming to pierce her with its sharp, 30 cm long saber-teeth. Zelles performed a controlled jump above its head and trusted her palm forward, whilst yelling «Panzerschreck!». A much bigger fireball than her previous three was immediately launched from her palm, striking the giraggro with massive, explosive force.
The giraggro flinched and fell on its left side, clearly affected by the blast. And however mighty it was, the stunned creature could not regain itself before receiving a grievous wound to the shoulder from Zelles' bone-spear. Because giraggros are so frontal heavy, receiving such a wound to the shoulder would render it far too handicapped for effective combat. The giraggro rolled over to the side in a attempt to crush Zelles with its 4 tons of body mass, but Zelles quickly removed the spear, and jumped off right before it could.
The giraggro kept rolling and hit a rock, then it suddenly laid still, as if killed or knocked unconscious by the impact. Zelles, who had seen plenty enough of these kinds of ruses, advanced slowly towards the beast with the spear readied.
She closed in on it, and once she was 10 steps away from it, she took a huge leap and stabbed it in the ribs. In a desperate rage, the giraggro flailed around angrily, and managed to strike Zelles again with one of its paws. It wasn't nearly as powerful as the first strike, but still knocked her to the ground. In an instant, the giraggro pounced her to try and finish her off. Unable to get away in time, Zelles planted her spear in the ground, and the giraggro- which was still in midair- beheld its demise within the next short second. As it landed, the spear pierced its throat and came through at the back, cutting arteries, airways and the elongated brain-stem. Its 4 tons of weight allowed the spear to pass through and obliterate the neck and spine completely. Kicking her feet forward, Zelles stopped the lifeless head and fore-body that flung towards her, conjuring up dust as it landed.
