Dinah Jane's POV
The sun wasn't even out yet but Normani and I were already up trying to find a perfect dress for each of us for the charity event that night. It was our third day in Cuba, it barely felt like work. We just casually spent our afternoons at the pool in our hotel and drank cocktails until the barkeeper would kick us out. At night we'd expose the business lady inside of us. It was such a great feeling helping others, they'd appreciate every single thing. I sometimes felt bad for living this kinda luxury life where a glass of noble champagne would cost more than a car. This actually somehow felt unreal since I grew up in a family where we couldn't even afford a christmas. I never thought that I once would have dinner with people like Alicia Keys or Taylor Swift. Even if I was living my dream, being such a great influence to the world in only my twenties was exhausting. The whole world was watching me, one mistake and the media would make me look bad, thats why I had to hide my relationship with my high school love Normani who in the end also slipped into the charity business. As the both of us were invited to a dinner at Jennifer Lawrence's house she was offered to be a part of our project and of course accepted it. Ever since then we attempted every trip and event together. After our wedding two years ago we basically became the couple of charity. It was either us or none.
A while later the sun finally got out and we made our way to the hotel lobby for breakfast. "Good morning ladies, have a nice day." greeted a worker and we nodded as response. He guided us to our table and handed us two cups of coffee. "I'm sorry I'd rather like some hot cocoa." informed Normani and I gave her a cold face. "My bad madame." apologized the tall hotel worker and left to get my girl her hot cocoa. "Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked questioning my facial expression. "You always gotta be the special favor." I laughed and took her hand. "Well I'm sorry unless it's from Starbucks coffee gives me head aches." she hinted and coughed. "Sure." I sarcastically breathed. We've been dating ever since we were 17 yet I had to control my stares. The fact that she dyed most of her hair blue made it even harder not to stare at her like some psycho lover. Just when I was about to get lost in her big dark eyes the hotel worker got back and placed Mani's hot cocoa right infront of my eyes so I snapped back from trance.
After we finished breakfast we got back to our room where we dressed up in our highly expensive bikini's. "Shoot your ass looks good from here." she smirked and tried to smack my butt but I stopped her. "Not now." I growned and turned around. "Sorry but can I at least have a kiss before we go downstairs?" begged Mani and not a second later she was sucking on my lips. "Enough babe." I mumbled and giggled. I kept reminding myself that we were 24 and that we should stop with the kinky high school stuff. As we were walking down the floor two guys were following us. They were probably around 15 and didn't have a single hair on their dicks. "We're gay, nice try!" I yelled and grabbed Normani's ass to prove them that I was right. "Oh shit." they growned and ran away. "Kids these days." ranted Mani and rolled her eyes. "Oh please you weren't better either." I laughed and stopped as we got to the pool. We were just about to spread out our towels and lay down when my phone started playing 7/11 by the one and only Queen B. "Hansen-Hamilton, who is this?" I asked while sitting down on the towel. "Dinah? Sorry girl I had to change my number again. Alright I just got to the hall for tonights event and they basically begged me to call you and ask if you and Normani could come and help with the preparations, half of the crew got sick so we need any help that we can get." whined Demi who also became a big friend of mine. She was part of our project and kind of my boss as well. She managed all events and appearances, without her nothing would've worked the way it was. "Yeah sure we'll be there in about 20 minutes if nothing gets in the way." I answered and she breathed heavily. "Thank you I knew I could count on you girls." she thanked and hung up. Once again we walked up to our hotel room and dressed up in our business clothes.
"There must be some space for our car! Why is everything taken?" asked Normani as we drove over the parking lot infront of the event's hall. "I have no idea but we're gonna find something." I hissed and right after I said that a large white Lamborghini drove out of the lot behind us. I parked in and we jumped out of our tiny black car that wasn't luxury at all. We quickly ran over the hot ground when suddenly a lady with short dark blonde hair stopped us. "Me puedes ayudar?" the tiny lady asked but we didn't understand a word so we just shook our heads repeating "No español!" which was basically the only thing that was stuck in our brains after leaving school and millions of different spanish classes. "I am very sorry I did not know." the lady stuttered in very bad english but at least we knew what she was saying. "Alejandro vienen aquí!" she yelled and a man and two girls appeared from across the street. They walked over to us and smiled friendly. None of them seemed to have a lot of money. The older girl was wearing a long white ripped dress that she has probably been wearing for a week or two. The younger one wore the same thing. "This is my family." the lady said again. "My man and I do not have money to provide our daughters. They have not .. my young daughter has no education. We have no money to pay for education." she shakingly explained. We felt bad for them but we didn't know what else to do other than giving them money so Normani pulled out 2000 Cuban Peso and handed them to the man. "This is for food and a place to sleep." she slowly told them and smiled. We turned around and left them alone on the street, god knows how bad I felt for them. "We can't just leave them like that we need to help them." I cried and looked back at the cuban family whose older daughter was struggling with counting the money we gave them. "They'll get through this." ended Normani and walked inside the building. I risked a last glace at the four people and followed my wife.
While discussing everything for the charity event with Demi and the remaining crew, I felt sick to my stomach. Guilt feelings were bugging me so hard that moment and I could've started crying and throwing up any minute. The family probably already left since it was pitch dark outside and even though they got money I still believed that they had nowhere to go besides a hotel for a couple nights possibly. I especially felt bad for the two girls who seemed to not exactly understand what was actually happening to them. "Okay so we're doing it that way, thats good." announced Demi and erased her writing off the whiteboard. I barely listened to her, my thoughts were with the family who probably sat somewhere under a palm tree still trying to figure out what to do with all the money. It bugged me so badly that I had to run out and get fresh air. I usually didn't smoke but I still had a package of cigars in my purse for stressed emergencies and that was exactly one of those so I took out a tiny white cigar and lit it up. I sucked on it and deeply inhaled the stuff. I coughed at first but enjoyed it after. With the cigar sticking between my fingers I hardly tried to find the family without success. I was heartbroken.
