Chapter 26

After the cleanup, I took baby C from Kuya's arms because he went off at the backstage. I positioned baby C using my one arm as her stand while my other hand was wrapped around her chest. She's now facing Jason. She giggled when he tickled her then he held her hand and playing it babyish.

"Come here baby," he said in a puerile tone. He stretched out his hand to me to get her then I gently handed baby C to him and faced them both. She giggled when I made a funny face. I stopped for a second and stared at Jason who laughed, too.

"Hey, it's not for you!" He laughed again at namumula na ang mukha niya.

"Come on, do it again," he said in a teasing tone and chuckled.

I flashed out a funny face again and smiled when Baby C chuckled. I rose my lips when I gaze at Jason still laughing. Tumingala ako sa ulo nito as I fixed his curly taper faded hair. Matangkad pala talaga si Jason dahil nakatungko ng konti ang talampakan ko para maabot iyon.

"Engr. Santiago," I hinted when I stood next to him and placed my right hand behind him. I leaned my head cushy to the side of his body. He carries baby C with his one arm while his other hand is resting on my waist. We both stared at baby C, smiling. Kung titignan mo ay para kaming isang masayang pamilya.

"Yes, Miss Harte?" He looked down and intently stared at me.

"Thank you..." I genuinely smiled at him. He rubbed his hand behind my back and smiled at me.

"Hi there, couple!" ate Celine greeted us and we both smiled at her. I snapped myself because it's true... we're a couple now. Jason is my boyfriend.

"You guys... look so good together," ate Celine complimented us with a beatific smile in her face. I glanced at him again and I caught him smiling. Mga ngiti na hindi ko inakalang makikita ko na ganoon kaganda.

"Thanks, ate..." Jason said na parang nahihiya pa.

Humarap ito kay baby C at sa kanya mas ipinakita ang maganda niyang ngiti. It seems like he was trying to escape from being caught na kinikilig siya. I beamed a light on my lips when I viewed how happy he is right now. I don't have any plans to bust it.

We stopped talking when Kuya walked towards us with Pastor Vienz, Adriel and that beautiful girl from the video earlier. They are laughing while they were on their way towards our post.

I just realized that maybe Kuya knew that I and Adriel will see each other here but why he didn't tell me? He's been organizing this event for almost five months. Why he didn't give me a forewarning so that I can prepare myself? Sadly, because none of it will matter now. All of it was like a latish statement to me that will not be tenable as an excuse...

I was caught off guard when they arrived in front of us. I bit my cheek to suppress the stupefied of my face when our eyes met but I peek off when Kuya got baby C from Jason's arm.

I saw Adriel glanced at Jason's hand on my waist. When he cast his eyes at me, I suddenly smiled. For no reasons... I just smiled at him.

The smile that I never planned to give him. After all those years of pain and suffering, I'd still managed to smile at him. I can't believe I just did that. Maybe I'm so blissful that he changed, that my pain is not in vain...

I fought a right battle because it's not a no-win war. He's my victory since he became a better person. Every sleepless nights were all worth it.

"Pastor Vienz, this is Betryle, my sister," Kuya introduced.

I know him because I've been watching his preaching online. I really admire his words of affirmation and he has a beautiful soul that desires to reach more soul to be save, too.
