Year 2012,that certain crisis occured on earth. Almost all of humanity ceased to exist and everything was banished from the surface of the earth.

That certain crisis was truly horrifying. Not only it obliterated almost all life forms on earth, also, neither was it known to anyone what was the reason behind the entire tragedy.

The technology, the advances, the riches – everything the humans once had was wiped out together with more than billions of humans on earth. Having few survivors was pure luck.

It was called the Apocalypse.

The apocalypse changed the world and that was for sure. The Information era ended together with the blinding light the Holy Tragedy, another name coined for the apocalypse, and just remained a history. However, when a door closes, another one opens. And thus, the coming of a new world, the Magical era.

|Year 3009, 997 years after the Holy Tragedy, Apocalypse.|

In front of the iron gate of Mildrad, the capital city of the Northern Ixornis Empire, there stood two armored knight-like guards crossing two spears, blocking the entrance to the city. And in front of them, a man in a ragged and dirty clothing was kept from entering.

Yes, it was me. A hopeless wanderer in the barren lands of the north, Zwei Gozarto.

"As I have said, I am not a suspicious person! I am a traveller! Please let me enter"

"Stop your nonsense. Young wanderer, thieves in the northern lands have been growing in numbers. We, the Punishers, cannot simply let outsiders come and go as they please without due processes."

Punishers are the protectors of the land. They are raised and trained to withstood difficult battles. Joining the army is one of the highest dream of almost all aspiring warriors. Not only do they posses high previledge, they are also personally acknowldged by the Magic Council - a group of battle enthusiasts who preserve the utmost peace and order.

"But~"

"No buts!"

The guard Punisher pushed me out of the way as I staggered with my footing. Finally standing firmly, I looked at the guards who then returned, crossing each other's spear.

I knew, that at that moment, no matter what I have said, I won't be allowed to enter the city. I sighed as I soared high towards the cloudy skies. It was said in books that our ancestors where able to see what was beyond these gray clouds. There were sun, moon , stars and the birds which flies freely in the blue skies. All of them doesn't exist anymore, at least not anymore seen from our naked eye.

I tapped my foot gently on the sandy ground. As I continued, I kicked the ground hard and made countless dust floating in the air towards the faces of the startled guards. I ran with my life on the line and made it past the gates. The guards, with their eyes hurting, ran after me.

"Stop right there!"

One of the guard said. However, what I do doesn't matter anymore. I'll get caught be jailed no matter how realistic the alibi I make. Not thinking anymore, I jus ran straight.

The guards continued chasing me as the city buildings finally appeared before my eyes. If I can outrun them up to these buildings, I can just hide and escape later on. I thought as I accelerated my pace. The guards, knowing my increasing resistance, finally stood still.
