~ Some years ago at a daycare center for preschool children...

"Devil Boy! Devil Boy! Watch out for the Devil Boy or else he will put a curse on you!"

"I don't know if he really is part devil, but he sure is a freak."

After being bullied by his peers and shunned by the caretakers for being a freak, a small boy went outside and started to cry underneath the playground tree. Why was he called a freak and devil? Well, that's because he really is part devil. His mother is human, but his father is a devil. To be more precise, an incubus. Due to his devil blood, the boy was born with inhuman traits such as purple hair, a slit pupil on his left eye, tiny devil horns that are sprouting on his head and little fangs. His parents were almost never home and he would spend most of the day in the daycare center or with a babysitter. Regardless of where he was, the boy was neglected all the same. The boy has accepted this fate of discrimination, but it still hurts.

"I wish I wasn't born." the boy mumbled as he tried to wipe the tears from his face. "I don't wanna live like this."

"Why aren't you playing with us?"

The boy turned to see a girl with crimson hair and an eyepatch who approached him from behind.

"Who're you?" asked the boy.

"How rude." the girl sighs as she sits next to the boy. "I'm Hanazono Yurine. What's your name?"

The boy didn't pay attention to who his classmates were, but even he can tell that she is different. Yurine stood out because her eyepatch didn't match her preschool uniform.

"Hmph, don't bother me." the boy said as he turned his head away from her. "I don't wanna be friends with you."

All of the sudden, Yurine smacked the boy on the back of the head with a stuffed toy. The boy was shocked at the sudden impact and he turned to retort, but when looked back at Yurine, he saw an angry face that no preschooler should have.

"When someone asks you a question, you're supposed to answer back." Yurine said in a threatening tone.

"Hotaru." the boy said as he rubs his head. "Yakuzo Hotaru."

Yurine sighed with satisfaction, but for some reason she had no intention of leaving. This made Hotaru quite uncomfortable since she already hit him once and she didn't look very friendly.

"I heard you were part devil." Yurine said. "Is it true?"

"Yeah, my dad is a devil." Hotaru answers. "People hate me because of my relationship with him."

"I think being part devil is pretty cool." Yurine said, sitting next to Hotaru. "Do you have any superpowers or neat tricks you can do?"

Hotaru was shocked at Yurine's interest in his devil background. Most people would make fun of him because of his traits or become scared, but not her. She's an oddball for sure.

"According to my mom, my dad can make any woman fall in love with him." Hotaru began. "She said that I might develop the same power he has when I get older."

"That's dumb." Yurine flat out said. "What a useless power."

Hotaru comically falls backwards at Yurine's reaction. That wasn't really the response that Hotaru expected from Yurine, but he had to admit it did sound useless when he said it out loud.
