Daichi was still coming down from the high.

The memory of the game was still rushing through his mind. The beat of his heart, the harsh wind cutting up his face, the sting radiating through his hands after catching a particularly hard throw, the adrenaline.

After putting his broom away, he changed into more comfortable robes. He knew that his flying ones looked better, but he couldn't be bothered with the heavy fabric at the moment.

He pulled on his practice robes, and braced himself for the crowd outside the door.

Lights flashed and Daichi had to cover his eyes from the onslaught of cameras pointed at him. He gave himself a second and a deep breath before removing his hand and putting on a smile that was only half fake.

No less than a minute later the questions were pouring in.

"Were you nervous because of your first game?"

"How did you feel facing the #2 team for your debut game?"

"How do you feel replacing someone like Uchizawa?"

Daichi tried his best to answer the questions as fast at he could but they just kept coming. It made sense since this was his first game playing for a professional team, and with the added pressure of his predecessor being ranked top 3 in the country.

After what felt like an eternity, the crowd started thinning. Daichi was trying his best to pay attention to the reporter in front of him, but his head whipped around when he heard something familiar.

It wasn't a phrase, but a voice. It stirred something in him, recognition, but he couldn't place it.

"Sawamura?" He was brought back by the reporter standing in front of him. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, yeah," he pushed the feeling down, and tried his best to answer the question.

After a few minutes, Daichi heard the voice again. He looked into the crowd and tried to place where it was coming from. He caught a flash of silver hair, before it ducked behind another person.

He had only seen hair that color once before. He had run his fingers through it, separating the strands and watched how they almost disappeared in the sunlight.

But that didn't make sense. He wasn't supposed to be here for another six months at least.

"Suga?" He wondered aloud, ignoring the questions being shoved at him.

The voice came back again, to his left. "I haven't heard that name in a while."

Daichi whirled around until he found those eyes. The eyes that made him feel like a deer in headlights, exposed, but making no movements to hide. His mouth fell open in shock, and his feet felt superglued to the floor.

Suga stood off to the side, leaning against the wall. His lips were curled in a small smile, but his eyes shone. He had a camera gripped loosely in one hand, and the other resting in his pocket. "Hey,"

Before he registered what he was doing, Daichi was halfway to Suga, scooping his up in his arms. "You weren't supposed to be back for another couple months,"

"Daichi, you're squishing me!" Suga was out of breath but he had a smile on his face. "I wanted to make it a surprise"

"Well you got that part down," Daichi pulled away, but kept Suga within arms length.

"You should have seen the look on your face!" Suga laughed behind his hand.

"I just can't believe you're back, it kinda feels like a dream."

"I really want to kiss you right now, but there are a lot of people and cameras watching us," Suga said, lowering his voice.

Daichi glanced around and saw that Suga was right, almost every reporter in the room was focused on them. "Wanna get out of here?"

"It's your debut game, and you want to ditch the interviews?"

"Yep," Daichi grabbed Suga's hand and led him to the back room before he could protest anymore. "See, that wasn't that hard.

"Daichi!" Suga hit his arm, and Daichi was reminded of one part about Suga he didn't miss. "You are gonna get killed!"

"And I'll deal with that when it comes," Daichi glanced around to make sure they were alone, before turning back to Suga. "But right now, you're here."

Daichi knew what was going to happen, but it still stole the breath from his lungs.

Suga was familiar, he tasted of peppermint and fresh air. Familiar, but something he knew he would never find anywhere else.

Suga pulled away first, but Daichi still kept his tight hold on his hips. "I've been waiting for a year and a half to do that."

Daichi pulled Suga back into a hug, but it was softer less urgent that the one earlier. "I missed you."

"I missed you too,"

"Do you want to go out for dinner?" Daichi asked.

"Sure," Suga smiled, and Daichi felt his heart do a thing hit hadn't done in a long time. "It'll give us time to catch up."

Suga linked their hands together and they started walking down the hall.

"Just one condition," Daichi stopped walking. "Promise you won't leave for that long again."

Suga kissed him again, lingering just outside of Daichi's reach. "I promise"
