The night broke into a sun-soaked yellow day,as the decoction of sun rays comes into contact with the milky sky. In appropriation to that, Dhanam came into the living room with tea tumblers for everyone.

Mullai's brain was preoccupied with her dream from last night, like a fully-filled Sombu. She was only half listening to the panel discussion going on headed by Professor Moorthy and Asst. professor Dhanam.
All she could hear was "Apdi sollu Dhanam" and "Periyyyya vishayam da" thrown around here and there.

She was dragged back into the world by Kathir's voice asking "Anne! Papa varaa dhaane?!".
"Hahahah Idha paaru Dhanam! Dei Selvi matum epdi da thaniyaa varum? Papa vum kuda varudhu da!" replied Moorthy. Mullai could see Kathir blushing at that and the entire family started talking about how Papa was Kathir's special damsel.

The men left to work and the Annis and Kanna along with Lakshmi amma were discussing about how Kathir and Papa were always inseparable like Naatamai and his Sombu! It was such a torturous day for Mullai. She faked a headache and excused herself. She went into their room, surveyed around, found his paai, thalagaani and sombu. She put them together like how he does every night and decided to take a nap! "Idhu irundha dhaan thookam varumame! Apdi ena feeling nu iniku paathuruvom!" she resolved to experience it.

Around lunch time, instead of Jeeva, Kathir decided to show up unexpectedly!
"Enna da nee vandhurka? Jeeva enga? Mama solalaye? Edha prechanaya Kathiru? Na mama ku call pannava?" Dhanam started taking out her questions arrows out of her quiver and launching at him.
"Ayo anni anni!! Sombu la koozhaankalla potu kulukina mari gadagadanu ethana kelvi?!. Anne renduperum mill ku poirkaanga. Adhaan naa saaptutu kalaipaa iruku konjam thoongitu polaam nu vandhen. Annengaluku saapadu Saravanan vandhu vaangipaan" he finished in one breath. "Seri.. va naa sapadu eduthu vekaren. Mullai thala vali nu thoongara" she walked into the kitchen.

After lunch Kathir goes into their room to find Mullai fast asleep on his Paai and Thalagani with a frown on her face. "Haha!! Epudi thoongaraa, thoongarapo kuda Urrrrr nu" he couldnt stop admiring his wife. His eyes slowly moved around, "En paai, en thalagani, en som...." he traces his eyes back as if someone hit Rewind.. "En sombu.. hey.. en sombu.. inga dhaane irukum?!? Enga en sombu?!" he gradually started raising his volume in panic as his eyes widened. "Hey.. ndha.. ezhundhuru.. yei!!"

"Adadada!! Yaaru adhu Somba kaadhukitta vandhu tang tang nu adikkara mari satham potukitu", she woke up and saw him "neenga! inga.. epdi ipo..." she hastily gets up from his paai with a sheepish grin.

"Yei.. adha vidu.. en sombu enga?!" he couldn't care about anything else!
"Sombu dhane.. dho inga dhaan iruku" she turned to her right side to see an empty floor "ayo...inga dhaane irundhudhu?! yenga.. na vandhu paduthapo inga vechen nga" Mullai started to sweat!

"Adhulaam nee edhuku edutha?! Ipo paaru en somba kaanum!" he accused and started putting the entire room upside down looking for his precious Sombu.

"Yenga en ipo kathareeha! Inga dhaan engaya irukum.. thedi tharen porunga..." The search for the Sombu began and thus started the longest day of their lives!

The evening fell and along with the birds were returning home to their nest, Moorthy and Jeeva came back from the store to see the rest of the family sitting in the living room with grave expressions. "Ennachu elaam ipdi okaandhurkeenga".. Moorthy walked inside. Everyone but Kathir looked up at him blankly. Kathir seemed too upset to even raise his eyes from the floor.
