Somba Kaanum!!!!!!

Enga pona raasa?!

"Anne.. en somba kaanum ne!!" Kathir was crying out loud.
Kannan couldn't keep patting him for that long as his arms started to ache. He signals at Mullai to do something about it.
An extremely concerned Mullai comes and sits near him "Yennaga chinna pulla mari azhudhutu! Sombu kaanum dhaan aana adha vida Naaliku unga Papa vara porahale!!! Adha nenachu sandhoshapadama ipdi azhareehale!" she tries her best to cheer him up!

And all of them caught on to it "Ada aama Papa vardhu la..." "Dei Kathiru, Papa vardhu da" "Anne Papa vardhu ne" "Aama athai na kuda marandhuten Papa vardhu".. there was a ruckus as if 20 Sombus were rolled around in the living room at the same time in random directions.

Kathir was not convinced completely, but he finally stopped crying when he heard "Papa". Just then Murugan appa and Parvathy amma rush into the house like vegamaa urutivita Sombu.
"Ammadi Mulla... Mapla.. vishayam kelvi patu vandhom! Romba varuthamaa pochu Mapla! Pesama vara Deepavali ku thangathula Sombu vaangi thandhidava? Enna ka?!"

Kathir who was silent until then got a little angry "Adhulaam onum venaam. Ponna kalyanam pannika varadakshanai vaanguradhum, veedu veeda Sombu kulukki picha edukardhum onu dhaan nu nenaikravan naan" he just bit his tongue for his own Sombu metaphor but he was very serious about his principle. "Neenga vandhadhuku romba nandri aana dhayavuseidhu ena pichakaaran aakidadheenga" he stated softly but fiercely!

Murugan and Parvathy were visibly touched and Lakshmi amma gave them a teary but proud smile.
"Paathiya Parvathy nama Maplai oda gunatha! Adhoda matum ilama, indha kudumbame namma Mullai ya Karagam Sombu madhiri thalai la thooki vechurukaanga! Andha kunnakudi murugan namala kai vidala!" Murugan got emotional.
They spend a few more minutes with the PS family making sure Kathir felt a little better and went back home.

After dinner, Mullai went into their room, Kathir was sitting on his Paai with the Thalagaani laid out, staring aimlessly at the ceiling! "Ipo ithanerathuku naa somba eduthu side la vechurkanum. Enga pocho therila!! Iniku thookamum adhoda sendhu pochu!" he was talking to himself. That was the cue for MK,

"Manirathnam padam Chekka chivantha Vaanam
Dhenaikum koodave irukara enoda somba Kaanum
Nenjula sogam pongudhu evlo thaanguven naanum
Papa varadhukula naama kandipa seri aanum!"

"Yenga, oru Sombu dhaana kaanum, adhuku indha reaction aanalum too much nga." she wasn't able to tolerate his reaction! Kathir tried to explain his stand "Yei, enna ipdi solita, enaku nenaivu therinja naal lerndhu indha Sombu en kuda irundhurku. Ipo dhideernu idhu en kuda illa naa epidi irukum enaku?! Unaku idhulaam puriyadhu!"

"Hmm...enaku puriyaadha?!? Adhu seri! nala vela neenga oru pombalaya porakkala! Kalyanam aagi purushan veetuku poganum nu sonna periya alaparai panirpeeha polruke!" she muttered rolling her eyes!

"Enna?! Enna sonna ipo?!" he demanded.
"Onum ilaye"
"Illa nee ipo ennamo sonna"
"Adhu... Somba pathi nenaikaama naliku UNGA Papa varahaa la, adha nenachutu thoongunga nu sonen" she replied twisting her lips.
"Ada aama la! Hey unaku naa Papa pathi muzhusa sonadhe ila.. epdiyum Sombu ilana thookam varaadhu, naama konja neram pesikitu irkalama?!" his face changed into a happy one.
"Seri solunga" she replied with no interest.

He starts telling her the stories of how he taught Papa to cycle, swim and so on.
"Paah.. romba vazhiyudhu.. apdiye oru Sombu vechu pidichuka solanum" her mindvoice was giving running commentary as the stories were far more irritating than the Sombu feelings!

Story after story Mullai started to miss the Sombu more than Kathir as he would have slept off if he had had the Sombu by his side and she needn't have to listen about Papa from his mouth. Cursing herself she finally says "Enga, porum.. oru Sombu alavuku kadha soluveenga nu paatha oru andaa alavuku solreenga! Vidiyapogudhu! Pesama paduthu thoongunga!"

Kathir gets a little perturbed by the mention of Sombu but somehow finally decides to close his eyes atleast for a little while so he can get ready to receive his Papa!!

The next day, everyone was eagerly waiting for Papa to make an appearance and much to the relief of Mullai, she was actually Chinna papa and not Periya papa! Mullai was on cloud 9.. she couldnt stop grinning and Kathir did not fail to notice the relief on her face. He follows her to the kitchen to hear about hee change in mood!!

"Ndha.. enna?! Idhuvarikum nasungi pona eeya Sombu mari irundhuchu un mugam, ipo dhideernu puli potu velakki vecha Velli Sombu mari maariduchu?! Enna aachu?"
"Illa.. Papa papa nu over ah build up paneegale. Kadasila indha Papa ku dhaana" she chimes like a rolling Sombu on the cement floor.
"Yen, nee enna nenacha" he raised his eyebrows with a naughty smile.
"Ilaaaa.. kodatha pathi pesaramaari irundhudhu.. kadasila paaatha adhu oru Sombu! hahaha" she hit her forehead laughing.
"Yedhu... kodam.. sombu... ena solra" he was confused.
"Haan.. solraaha solraaha!" she blushed.
"Yei, ipo yedhuku Sombu nu sona?!Iru.... ndha.. en Somba engayadhu paathiya?!" he asked seriously!
"Ayooo theryaama oru uvamai soliten saami! Inime andha mari solamaaten. Ponga poi Papa kuda irunga!" she pushes him out of the kitchen smiling.

The entire family was having a great time with Selvi akka and Papa. They made Papa sing and dance and rejoiced her cute talks.
"Papa ku yaaru favourite hero solungaaaa" Kannan asked.
"Mama, naa periya Simbu fan" she replied.
"Yedhu....neenum mama madhiriye Sombu fan aa" Kathir asked in a startled manner. Mullai stamped his feet discreetly and whispered "Ayo, Sombu ilanga Simbu.. paah.. epo paar Sombu Sombunutu" through gritted teeth.
Kanna who realized what just happened wanted to make the situation alright "Oh apdiya Papa.. inime avara STR nu soluvom ok va?!" he hi-fived her showing a side eye to Mullai. "Indha annen en Sombuku ivlo feel pannudhu! Adei Sombu! Enga pona raasa nee?!" he thought!

In the evening, a religious Poojai was performed at the PS home. Unfortunately on that day, Mullai gets her Menstrual Periods and is asked to stay away from the entire setup confined inside the KM room.
Kasturi athachi and Murugan Appa had also come to take part in the Poojai.

"Ennaaa dhanam?! Poojai ku edhavadhu udhavi venumaaa" asked Kasthuri in her sing-song voice.
"Aama anni, elaam paniten, Kalasam matum vekkanum. Oru Sombula konjam arisi potu kondu vareengala?!" she asked.
"En dhanam!! Sombuku naa enga poven?! En Kathiru thambiiii... Mulla neraya soliruka unga aboorva Somba pathi! unga somba konja eduthu kudukareengala?!"

Kathir's face started to change with that. Jeeva and Meena realized things were going out of hands just like a Sombu slipping and falling down!
"Errr.. kalasam Kodathula kuda vekkalam dhaane.. neenga ulla vaanga, naa kodatha kudukren" Meena dragged Athachi into the kitchen.

Kathir unable to control his agony started to sniffle.
"Kathir mama en azhuvuraaru?!" Papa noticed his sniffles and started getting worked up. Kathir immeadiately acted normal "Haha ilaye?! Mama Happya dhaane iruken!! Mama ku konjam cold.. adhaan azhuvura mari iruku. Mama sirikren, neengalum siringa papom!" Kathir consoled her.
He missed Mullai a lot by his side; "Iponu paathu en Sombu kanaama pona madhiri enga kaanama poita iva?!" For the first time in the last 2 days he searched for someone other than the Sombu...
