chapter four: the beginning of something

Airis POV
I sighed, while sitting in the drop that'll be taking us over kings canyon. There was some new guys here just people trying to get into the games no one special. Of course I stood out, I had pilot gear. Everyone else just had simple jumpsuits or custom outfits but i guess we begin
"Approaching kings canyon"
Hm, time to dance
As I get ready to drop, someone catches my eye.
Some lady with pink hair with green shades.
"Hm unique"
I whispered to myself
With the info I got from blisk, all the qualifiers will be solos instead of the usual squads.

I stand on the platform as it lowers
"So this is kings canyon where the kings may rest, probably best I go to a place I would assume no one goes too."
As I jump, I head towards swamps
"Pretty view, sad I can't enjoy it."
I said as I land on a house
I run around the house and managed to get an r-99 and mastiff
"Ah the r-99, oh baby how I missed you"
I said as I loaded my r-99
As I ran towards the other house I heard footsteps inside
"Of course a hostile. I guess time to toy with them"
I said as I climbed up to the roof and turned the voice changer on my helmet to the announcer
"Care package inbound"
I said and I could hear the enemy which has now been confirmed to be a female
"Best hurry to it"
I heard her say and I do my silent step to make my way inside
As I jumped into the build via a hole in the roof
"Now, where oh where are you"
I whispered to myself
As i check my corners, I can't seem to find her
She can't be that fast
"Hello"
I put my hands up as I heard the voice behind me
I slowly turned around to be greeted with some girl in a metal facemask that has small flowers on it
"Cute mask"
I said trying to distract her
"Nice gear, where'd you get it?"
I sighed aloud
"Got it from a friend where did you get the mask?"
She scoffed at me
"Oh this, custom made. Y'know you sound just like my ex boyfriend"
I smirk under my helmet
"Must've been a real dick to sound like this"
She laughed a little
"Oh, he was. Did some mercenary work and left me to continue his work"
As I put my hands down and reach for my knife
"Ah ah ah, did I say I was done?"
She said as she cocked her wingman
"I still have to off you"
I quickly pulled my knife out and tossed it at her just for it to hit her with the handle of the knife
"Oh, you done it"
She said as she started firing as I ran outside just for me to accidentally run off the platform the house was on
"Get back here!"
She yelled as she jumped down little did she know I was under the platform with the help of my silent step
As she dropped down I kicked her in the back knocking her down
She quickly recovered
I see that she dropped her wingman so I kick it away and put my fists up
"So, we're doing this now? Alright I'll bite"
As she pulled out a shock stick
I pulled out my secondary knife
"I guess, one shall fall and one shall rise"
I said as I got into my stance and she got into her's

??? POV
As I charged him something about him felt familiar
The way he dodged the way he fought with a knife.
It can't be him
I was told he died
As I hit him in the head causing his helmet to come loose a little but at the same time he kicked my shock stick out of my hands so I quickly disarmed him of his knife
"So a classic fistfight now huh?"
I said catching my breath
"I guess so, let's hurry and finish this"
I smiled under my mask
"Wouldn't have it any other way"
I said as I charged him to land a quick hit on his helmet and for him to land one on my mask
As we continued the fight the ring started to move
"We better wrap this up, the ring is moving"
He said
"Then maybe you should just lay down and die"
He quickly landed a kick on me knocking the wind out of me as I fall on my knees I feel my mask coming off so I quickly get up to jump kick him in the helmet just for my mask to fall off and his helmet to launch off
And I can't believe who it is
"Iris?!"
"Airis?!"
We both said in unison

And we done, damn the music I was listening too really amplified the little fight for me
