Chapter 10.) Survival

NINA'S POV

I was playing stuffed animals with Nick when I heard the phone ring.
"Hold on Nick. I'll be right back" I say to him.
"Hurry back Nina" he tells me.
I look back at him and say "will do."
I walk over to the home phone on the table.
I answer the phone by saying "Hello this is Mahogany's house. Who is this?"
"Hello I am here to tell you that last night Brianna got into a horrible car accident and is in a coma as we speak. If you do come she is in room 316 " he spoke to me.
I dropped the phone out of my hand. I picked it up and ended the call.
"Nick come on we're going to the hospital. Don't ask any questions until we are in the car. Just get ready" I yell at him.
He grabs a red jacket and 2 stuffed animals. I grab my phone out and put on my light blue jacket. We rush out the door and jump into my blue car.
"Who is at the hospital? How long are we going to be there? Can we play stuffed animals there? Is the person going to live? Who will be the doctor? What room is the person in? What month were you born in?" He asked all in one breath.
" Brianna. I don't know. Sure. Probably. I don't know. 316. And September" I said to him.
He nodded knowing what is up for us. I drove down the highway at top speed. I can't believe my best friend could possibly die.

LEXI'S POV

I have no idea where I am. I'm just wheeling away in my wheelchair. I soon look over to where we adopted Baby. The pound. I still remember getting him.
*flashback*
"Lexi come downstairs real quick I have some big news to tell you" my mother yelled up to me.
I stopped playing with my Barbie dolls and ran downstairs. I saw that next to mom and dad was dog food and toys. I looked at them and they were smiling.
"Are we getting a dog?!?!" I ask with excitement in my eyes.
They both nodded there heads. I jump up and down in excitement. I began running around the house looking for him/her.
"Where is the puppy?" I ask very questioned.
They looked at each other and smiled. I was still extremely confused.
"You get to choose your own puppy at the pound!" My mom explains to me with excitement.
My face goes from confused to joy. I begin crying and I then run over to my parents and bear hugged them. I never knew this would ever happen. My parents walked to the car while I darted out the door. I buckled up and smiled like I won the worlds biggest award. Once my parents entered the car I began thinking of what kind of dog I was going to get. Maybe a tiger dog or a lion dog. (Remember I was only 8 at the time. A really dumb 8 year old.) We stopped at the pound and I was over excited. One more pump of excitement and you'll see me on the moon. I dashed into the pound and I couldn't name how many dogs there were. I looked around and got confused they are all just dogs. No tiger dogs, no lion dogs, nothing. I began walking around really disappointed because there all just dogs. I began crying and to make sure nobody saw me I hid in the corner. My head was buried in my knee as I sob about not being able to get a tiger dog or a lion dog. I then here little yips in my ears. I turn my head to the left and see a white puff ball that is indeed moving and yiping. I wiped my tears away and begin laughing, I then thought to myself "he's so cute!" I then see my parents walk over to me.
"Hey Lexi, do you know what dog that is?" my dad asks me.
I shake my head no because I have no idea what kind it is.
My mom looks around and then wishers in my ear " It's a Polar Bear Dog."
My eyes are now sticking out of my head. I never knew these dogs existed!
"But you can't tell anyone because he is the only one in the world" my mom speaks to me.
I am now even more excited than ever!
"I want him!!!" I scream at the top of my lungs after knowing how amazing he is going to be.
*end of flashback*
I began crying just thinking of the memory. Man I miss my polar bear dog. I began wheeling my wheelchair on. I then saw the best sight in the world Shawn from yesterday was over in a driveway. Why the best sight you ask he was shirtless and was washing the car. I swear I just peed myself. I get up off my wheelchair and check that I can walk. I can. walk over to Shawn to say hello.
"Hi Shawn" I say as I walk up to him. Ok everything is going smooth so far.
"Hey Lexi! Why are you wearing a Ice Cream onesie in summer?" He asks.
Fuck Fuck Fuck! He knows.
"Hey I love Ice cream!" he said.
"As you can see I do too." I say to him.
He looks up at me and smiles. We both walk into his house and it's really snazzy. We run up the stairs up to a spare room.

SHAWN'S POV

I never knew one girl like Lexi would ever like Ice cream so much.

NINA'S POV

Nick is getting really antsy in the car.
"Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"
He asks repeatedly.
"NO!" I scream at him.
He immediately shuts up.The rest of the ride was quiet besides the radio that is playing G.D.F.R. We finally reach the hospital. I park the car and get out to help Nick out of his car seat. We walk toward the entrance and then Nick stops.
"Nick come on we got to go see Brianna" I tell him.
He shakes his head no.
"Hey buddy what's wrong?" I ask him.
"Isn't this where Hannah died" he said to me crying.
I can't believe he remembered. That was the saddest day of my life.
"Ya but let's not think of it that way. Do you know how many people's lives have been saved here? It's a lot" I say trying to cheer him up.
"Why wasn't Hannah one of them?" he asked.
"Maybe God wanted a friend" I say.
He nods and walks up to me and hugs my hand. We both walk to room 316. On her door there is a sign that says "DOCTORS AND NURSES ONLY."
"Just breath Nina" I say to my self to stop my self from crying.
The door opens to a doctor. I walk over to her and ask her about Brianna. She says there is only a 30% chance of her surviving. I look at her and nod. I can't lose my best friend.

BRIANNA'S POV

I am sitting in my car and I see Nina and Niall holding hands walking toward me. I wave at them but they don't wave back.
"Nina! Niall! I'm over here!" I yell at them so they can see me.
I try to get up and walk but I'm tied up.
"HELP!" I scream.
They walk over to me with a smirk on there face. I began to feel a felling of fear. I tried to wiggle out but it wouldn't work. They are now standing right in front of me. They look at each other and laugh and then they both moved to the left to revel Alyssa and my dad. I try to move again but I just can't.
"Alyssa! Dad! Are you ok?" I scream to them.
They look at me with tears in there eyes.Niall looks at me and shots both of them. I scream and cry.
"HOW DARE YOU DO THAT TO MY FAMILY YOU BITCH" I screamed at Niall.
Then he reloads the gun. I began to replace my anger with fear.
He looked at me and said "Night Night Brianna" and thence pulled the trigger. I then awake and I'm balling my eyes out but I notice that I'm in the hospital . Why am I here? Then about 1000 doctors come rushing in to my room. They poke me with needles and take blood. Then after about 5 minutes they all leave and I see Nina and Nick walk in.
