"D-Did I do something to upset you, my Diamond..?" Onyx asked.

White tilted her head, "What? Of course not, Starlight. I just wanted to ask you if you're enjoying your time in the palace so far...."

"Oh..? T-That's all..?"

White nodded, "Yes, Starlight. It's important to me that no gem harms you while you are here. I was thinking about assigning you some guards... Perhaps Quartz Soldiers..?"

Onyx's eyes went wide, "P-Please don't, my Diamond! I mean... Forgive me, but I believe you could use those soldiers for more important tasks."

"Oh, Starlight... We have plenty of soldiers. Maybe just one or two..?" White asked, but sighed in defeat when Onyx's expression seemed defiant, "Very well... I'll trust you can at least handle the palace."

Onyx bowed respectfully, "I am most grateful, my Diamond..."

White smiled. She didn't really understand it still, but she liked seeing the look of gratitude and joy on Onyx's face. That expression was perfect on the little gem, especially when she was so shy and worrisome, normally.

"Is there anything you do to entertain yourself..?" White asked, curiously.

"Hmm?" Onyx looked up at her Diamond, then thought for a moment, "Well... I'm not really sure... It's not easy when you're the only cut of your gem and you have no idea how you're supposed to behave."

White stared at Onyx, thinking quietly to herself. She opened up a spare screen and handed it to Onyx. Onyx gave her Diamond a look of confusion.

"Write something for me." White ordered, "Anything you can think of. It can be about something that happened, or it can be about someone you've met."

Onyx looked back at the screen when her Diamond finished explaining what she wanted from her. Writing? She was certain she could at least pull that off. Her fingers tapped the screen wildly as she began to type something. She knew exactly what she wanted to write about, since it hadn't left her mind since her escort to Homeworld.

When she finished, she handed the screen back to White Diamond, who read her work aloud.

"It happened a mere moment
A piercing gaze
Sharp and electrifying
It set my nerves ablaze

My first meeting with Yellow Diamond
It was not as I expected it to be
She was fierce, and proud
I expected her to yell at another, not me

Then the luminous Blue Diamond
She came to my rescue swift
Yellow stood her ground
Until Blue gave me a lift

This experience fell in the center of the scale
It was both good and bad
It is one I'll forever remember
And for that I am glad..."

White stared quietly at the poem, making Onyx a bit nervous. Finally, White smiled.

"This isn't that bad, Starlight." she spoke, "You could use some stronger words and perhaps a bit more metaphors, however, you have a real feel for poetry."

"I-I do..?" Onyx looked surprised that her Diamond was intrigued by her ability to write.

"I never lie, Starlight." White said.

"Oh, of course not, my Diamond!" Onyx protested, "I would never think so negatively of you!"

White Diamond closed the screen and lowered one hand for Onyx to hop on. When the small gem was on her palm, she lifted Onyx up to speak with her a bit more easily.
