Anger. This was the main emotion that cycled through Kaede Yamazaki's mind like a broken record. If even the slightest thing went wrong, she would start fuming. You would practically be able to see the steam leaking out through her ears for every mishap.
Kaede's parents had tried putting her in anger management classes, but to no avail. And so they continued to wonder, how can this girl always be filled with such hatred and frustration? It was a wonder she hadn't been expelled from her school yet.
However, that was years ago. Kaede was now in the seventh grade, and her parents had ultimately given up on trying to tame their wild beast of a child. The girl's father was constantly working at his brand new factory job while her mother also worked many hours at her office job. This meant that Kaede was always home alone, though she didn't care much. However, the one thing that irritated her most was the fact that she was strictly forbidden to leave her house; her parents feared she would go out and commit a crime or jump a group of little kids, just to take her anger out on someone or something. There were three locks on the front door, and four on the back door. All windows were bolted shut, so Kaede pretty much gave up on trying to escape.
She was told to go straight home after school everyday. Kaede's mother had downloaded an app on her phone hat served as a tracker. No matter what she tried, she couldn't delete the damned app.
Not like I have anywhere to go anyway, Kaede had always thought.
But long ago, there was a place the girl could go to that offered comfort: the Abiko residence.
Kiki Abiko was Kaede's childhood best friend. They did nearly everything together, whether it be eating lunch, playing at recess, or even doing homework together.
However, as the flow of time continued and Kiki grew older, the two girls slowly drifted apart. Little did innocent Kaede know that Kiki was pretty much thrilled to finally get away from her toxic friend.
Kaede knew deep down she had a problem, but she didn't want to accept it. Sometimes she would sit by her window during full moons and pray to the Goddesses above that they would free her of the curse she was born with: severe anger issues.
Although the girl wanted severely to be rid of her problems, she never actually did anything to try and help herself.
"Mom, I can't do anything about it!" she had screamed to her mother one afternoon. "Don't you think I've tried? It's like a little demon in my head that just won't go away no matter what I do! It's hell, mom. Don't you think I want out, too?!"
That statement had baffled Kaede's mother. Not once would she imagine that her daughter would have a single ounce of self awareness, ever. But there the woman stood, shaking slightly in front of a sobbing child who wanted nothing more than peace in her mind.
Eventually, Kaede's mother began to cry as well, but her father interpreted it the wrong way, and so the girl was sent to her room, only worsening her sour mood.
Kaede threw the biggest tantrum she had in a while that day whilst her mother weeped; she just wanted Kaede to be happy. She wanted a normal daughter.
Neither parent believed their wishes would ever come true.
