The media is a very key part of our lives in this current era. It gives us the secondary socialisation we need to develop and form an identity. Therefore what we see in the media - on television, the radio etc. - becomes a part of who we are, and what we believe is right from wrong. 

This is why LGBTQ+ representatives are crucial in battling homophobia and not accepting yourself if you happen to fall in one of the categories because it is embedded in our brains from young ages.
