Baboom... Baboom... Baboom... The steady beat of the drum keeps my feet moving. Baboom... Baboom... Baboom... I focus my attention on the drum, not the steady stomping of the boot clad feet following after me as I jump from rooftop to rooftop. Baboom... Baboom... Baboom... I hear it, the drum, calling to me. Telling me to run. Telling me to come. Controlling my movements. Baboom... Baboom... Baboom... Panting harder, pushing myself harder, aiming to go farther, faster. I didn't just want to escape anymore. It was a need now, a necessity. I needed freedom. I needed away from these men, these monsters. Baboom... Baboom... Baboom... They weren't human. They never were. The way they torture, the way they kill, without feeling any remorse... that isn't human. Baboom.. Baboom.. Baboom.. why did this have to happen? Why did she have to die? Why? Why!? WHY!? *Exhale* I can get so worked up... But I have a reason for my reaction. She was my best friend and I watched her die and I couldn't SAVE HER!!!!! Baboom Baboom Baboom.... Calm down. Calm down. You have a ways to go still so stay calm... Calm... Just like... Baboom... Baboom... Baboom... That beat... Focus... Focus... Focus... They are almost there... Almost... There... Aaaand...
Boom.
I hear the crashing and cursing from behind as I jump what seems to be flat roof to most eyes, but not mine, because I knew that was there, for it was a trap my team and I set. And when I land I turn to see the catastrophe that lay behind me. Men, monsters, lay in a pile beneath me, caused from falling through a holographic roof that was not, in fact, real. and everyone of these baboons fell for it. All except one. The one I see across from me, glaring at me, obviously angry at me but hey, you know, karma. He killed my best friend, I disable his... minions... Whatever those things are to him. It doesn't really concern me because it's not exactly my problem at the moment. My problem, at the moment, is running to catch him... I need to catch him... Baboom... Baboom... Baboom... Go, faster. Run, farther. Go, Roma.
