Watching the sun at dawn, complemented by the chirping music of the rejuvenated, colorful, little birds is splendid. As the sparkling dew covers the grass, a fresh aroma rides the air and the distracted sunflowers brighten in the pampering warmth of the sun's rays, which promise a day full of love and light.

I tightened my grasp around her shoulder. She softly whimpered and innocently wrinkled her shiny nose.

Scattered freckles on her nose, like gemstones on gold, adorned her face.

What kept my mind more occupied was the sweet odor from her black hair, right beneath my chin.

I have never seen her sleep so sound, unaware of the world. She seems to be dreaming a happy dream or maybe she is happily asleep, as, for a while, she is no longer part of her real world. Instinctively, I tilted my head and lowered my nose towards her hair.

She has grown up to be majestically beautiful: dark lashes hover over her bright, brown timid eyes, like a rainbow over a tranquil lake. Her soft full lips, slender nose, shining at the tip in the sunlight and the calm, satin-soft face are not illusionary.

She has grown, yet she's the same fragile little girl from inside.

I am intoxicated by her fragrance. I want more. For many seconds, or maybe many minutes, I just inhaled and exhaled in the rhythm of the silent music.

The day had been long and tiring and the night more tiresome.

I lay awake with her head resting on my chest, and her left hand on my stomach; she slept clinging to me, her right hand tightly clasping my left shoulder.

I wonder what she is dreaming about.

Of course not me! Do I still belong in her happy dreams? Well, she slept clinging to me, did not she?

Can she see it? I wonder.

The sun and the sunflower!

I reluctantly move the loose strands of hair from her cheek to slide it behind her ear. Softly, I brushed my lips on her hair. They taste as luscious as their smell.

Can she see it? I wonder.

What we have done to each other?

Can she sense it? We are entwined to be together for a lifetime or maybe after that too.

I'm incomplete without her and she is incomplete without me.

We are the 'sun and the sunflower'. And unlike the real sun and sunflower, this 'sun' was right by her side all night.

Irrespective of the days or nights, this sun stays forever by her side. There will be no night, no darkness for her, just the soft pampering light and promise of happiness.
