It was a bright sunny day and things were going smoothly. A couple of friends were walking down the hall chatting with each other.

Until something was bothering one of them in particular. As she was walking alongside them, she felt her head aching. She looked around and realized that she didn't know the people she was with. She saw four boys and another girl who looked a bit familiar. She tried to look closer into them but all of a sudden, she noticed a strange sound around her. She then started falling from a high place and everything went black.

Emily woke up and hit her head on the alarm clock dangling on top of her. "Ow," she groaned,

She took the alarm clock, turned it off, tossed it to the other side of the room, and slumped back to her bed. "Five more minutes..." she muttered

Knock! Knock! Someone was knocking on the door to her room.

"Wake up, Emily!" her mom called, "You're gonna be late for school!"

Emily shifted her position to lying face-down on the bed before slowly sitting up. She rubbed her eyes and blinked twice until her vision cleared. She looked to her right and noticed that her alarm clock. It was 7:30 AM.

Seeing that, she quickly got out of her bed and went straight to the bathroom to freshen up. A little while later, she went down to the kitchen wearing a maroon shirt and navy blue jeans all the while she was tying her hair into a ponytail.

She popped in some bread on the toaster and went to the fridge to grab some orange juice. Ding! Emily then grabbed the toast and carefully spread butter on it.

Beep! Beep! She heard the sound of the bus outside the house but she is still eating the bread.

"Coming!" she shouted, as she took a quick sip of her orange juice and went to the living room wearing her shoes. As she grabbed her jacket and backpack, she noticed that her aunt was calling her.

"So sorry but I gotta go." Emily said as she ran out of the house and went inside the bus, "Bye, Aunt Samantha!"

"Take care, iha!" Aunt Samantha replied. She walked to the kitchen and noticed the unfinished orange juice and exhaled deeply. "That girl forgot to put that into the sink again."

Emily carefully walked to her seat as the bus began to move. She sat down on the middle seat near the window and let out a huge sigh of relief.

She then noticed someone sitting beside her. "Hey, Emily!"

"Hey, Sarah." Emily replied, "What's up?"

"Nothing much. How 'bout you?" Sarah replied. She glanced at Emily from top to bottom before saying, "Lemme guess: you woke up late?"

"Was it that obvious? But yeah." Emily chuckled, "I pulled an all-nighter doing some editing on a project."

"Is it a group project?"

Emily nodded, "Anyway, how's your day going?"

"I think that project had you on short-term memory." Sarah pointed out,

"Oops."
