Driving home from the gala, her boyfriend made pleasant conversation. Susan was drifting in and out of the conversation.

Her boyfriend of three years, Devin, got worried, "Susan!", he coaxed, "Sweetheart, are you okay?"

She looked up startled,"Yes, I'm fine, but keep your eye on the road!" Susan exclaimed. The headlights were the last thing she saw before she fell into darkness.

Susan was rushed to the hospital and so was Devin. Devin had minor injuries, he got released within a few hours. Susan on the other hand had not woken up, the Staff was worried she may never wake up. The friends and family of Susan were ushered out and told that they had to leave, however they could visit in the morning.

The medical staff ran tests all night on the woman, but they always came to the same conclusion. They all feared the woman would never wake up. However, in the midst of the darkness Susan could hear the bustling around her and the cries of her family members. It pained her to hear them all, yet she couldn't move or find a way to enter reality. She heard the doctors whispers and the sound of the medical equipment, she started to fear for her fate.

The next morning the majority of her family came to visit. She heard her Mother's quiet sobs and the wails of her sister, she could also hear the cries of her best friend. The door to her room opened and the doctor entered.

"I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news." The doctor stated.

"Why?" Her Father questioned

"I am afraid Susan may never wake up."

"My little girl!" My Father broke down.

Soon the family members had exited and only Devin was left.

"Hi Susan." Devin whispered, "I don't know if you can hear me right know, but I almost hope you can't. I am going to tell you something that I regret but I can't stop love. Susan, I have been going out with Marissa for eight months. I think she is the one, I can't believe I didn't tell you. I am going to ask her to marry me. If you ever wake up, I am so sorry. Love just can't be prevented." Devin turned and walked away.

Susan heard the door open and close twice. She heard the sound of feet walking up to the bed.

"I am sorry." Stated a voice that sounded like her friend Marissa, "It is love. I don't deserve your friendship and if you can even hear me, I don't ever expect you to forgive me. I hope we can come to some sort of a truce. Just remember that I love you and keep fighting for your family."

Susan comprehended what she just heard and she came to one conclusion. Susan really wished she couldn't hear right now.
