(Character's name is Alex)
"Nikki..." I whined. "I really really REALLY don't want to go out with you tonight."
"Too bad." She said, putting on her blood red lipstick. "You're coming. You need to get out more."
Nikki was my best friend. Well, one of my only friends. She said I was at home too much, hiding from people. While probably true, I didn't want to go party in some jenky bar with lots of people I didn't know while Nikki got drunk and made me take care of her.
"I'm gonna die!!! The sun! It burns!" I groaned, trying to think of any excuse not to leave.
"It's night time Alex. Now go get in the car." She grabbed her keys and fixed her hair one last time before walking out the door, me grumbling behind her.
Within a few minutes, we had arrived at the bar. Nikki ordered a few shots, quickly downing them, while I sat on a stool and just got a spiked Coke. After her drinks were gone, Nikki immediately went dancing and found some random guy to grind on. I smartly remembered to bring my sketchbook since I knew I would be bored.
I began to work on a tattoo design a friend had asked me to draw when I noticed some people walk in. It was Black Veil Brides. They were my favorite band EVER. I had met them a few times at shows so they recognized me too after a while. Jinxx was my favorite but I loved them all. I turned back to my drawing, not wanting to bother them, when I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Is this seat taken?"
I turned to see none other than Jinxx, standing behind me. I shook my head no and he sat down on the stool next to me, ordering a shot of Jack Daniel's and a Corona.
"That's a nice drawing." He said, trying to start conversation.
"Thanks! It's a tattoo design that my friend asked me to do for her." I said.
Jinxx nodded and downed the whiskey. I was usually shy and didn't talk much but I found it easier to talk about my artwork.
"You look familiar..." Jinxx said, looking me up and down. "Do I know you?"
I took off my jacket so he could see my shirt. I had it signed the first time I saw them in 2015 and ever since then, Cc had referred to me as 'T-shirt girl'.
"Ah! I knew you looked familiar. T-shirt girl! How are you Alex?" He asked, taking a swig of beer.
"I'm good. I'm still surprised you're sitting next to me though. I didn't know you guys were playing here. I would've come to the show."
"We're not playing. Just passing through on our way home." He said.
"Oh. Well whe-"
I was cut off by a yell from the dance floor and quickly turned to see a drunk Nikki arguing with another guy. Apparently, from what I overheard, the friend of the guy she was dancing with decided to try and take over and she was upset.
I rolled my eyes and stood up, walking over and holding Nikki's arms so she couldn't land a punch. Nikki was somehow able to slip out of my grasp and started yelling even louder, the man matching her yells. I tried to hold Nikki back while the man's friends held him. The entire bar was looking at us now.
"Back the fuck off! It was a misunderstanding! Just forget about it!" I yelled back at the guy.
"Keep your bitch friend on a leash!" He yelled back.
Jinxx had been watching from his seat at the bar when he had finally had enough and decided to come help me. He stood in front of the guy and pushed Nikki back.
"Okay come on guys! Stop now! I'm going to call the cops!" Jinxx yelled at both of them.
They both stopped and looked at Jinxx, not saying anything. They were eventually calm enough to let go and the man wandered off, leaving the rest of us alone. Nikki turned back to a friend she had made and continued dancing while Jinxx and I went back to talking.
"Before I forget to ask, mind if I get your number? It'd be great to be able to keep in touch with you." He asked, handing me his phone.
"Sure, yeah. I'd love that!"
I took his phone and put in my number, handing it back to him. He texted me so I had his and we went back to talking.
-----6 months later-----
Jinxx and I had grown very close after a few months. We were at the point of talking pretty much every day now and I was happy about it. The only problem was that I was falling in love with him, but didn't know how to tell him. I didn't want to ruin what we had, but it was slowly eating me up inside. He was coming over later so I might tell him then, if I have the courage.
The doorbell rang and I called downstairs that it was open. Jinxx walked upstairs and came in my room. I flopped on my bed and he did the same. We greeted each other and got to talking.
"Shit." I muttered after a while.
"What's up?" He asked.
"I forgot. I have to go grocery shopping."
"I could come help you. It'd go by faster." He said, sitting up.
"Sure."
We got up and drove to the store pretty quickly and were soon looking through the aisles for things I needed.
"Hey Alex?" He asked.
"Hmm?"
"I was wondering. Do you...uh...would you like to...maybe...move in with me? I know you've been struggling with rent lately." He asked.
"Really?" I asked, not believing what I had just heard.
"Yeah. I'd like the company." He said, scratching the back of his next.
I quickly thought it over and nodded a yes to Jinxx, who was looking at me for an answer.
"I'd love to." I said.
"Okay. Okay great!" He said happily.
A few days later, I had all my stuff moved in and Jinxx was helping me unpack the rest of the way. He had a nice little house. I had my own room and Jinxx had his, leaving another spare. Once we had finished, Jinxx looked at me.
"Alex, can I ask you something?"
"Of course." I answered.
"I understand if you don't feel the same way about things so don't be guilty. Would you...be my girlfriend?" He asked, taking my hands in his.
A huge wave crashed inside of me, now knowing that Jinxx felt the same about me as I did him. I didn't even have to think about my answer.
"Yes. Oh yes, Jinxx! I would!"
He smiled and pulled me into a tight hug, kissing my hair. A few seconds later, we went to the kitchen to make dinner together for the first time.
