Maldives
21st May 2018A sudden jolt woke her up. She could hear the sound of the waves roughly crashing the shore. She rubbed her eyes groggily and opened them slowly only to find another set of eyes watching her.
Vivaan had an anxious expression on his face. She sat up stretching her arms and furrowed her eyebrows feeling completely disoriented. She found herself in the passenger seat of Vivaan's car. Her surroundings were bathed with an orange glow from the sunset. The car was standing in the driveway of a beautiful black two-storey house. She looked back at Vivaan who's gaze was still transfixed on her. It took her a minute or two, to register what was really happening. But when she finally did, she was FURIOUS.
"Where the hell am I?" She demanded.
"It is your last day here and also our last chance to spend some time together so..." He said and paused when he saw her expression change from angry to shock.
"SO WHAT?" She asked, her eyes widened.
"So, I brought you here." He said as he laid back in his seat coolly.
"And where is here?" She asked looking around, trying to figure out her location.
"My vacation house" He said giving her a devilish grin and her face went blank.
"What? No...wait. We were on the pathway...fighting...and now I'm here..." She said, confused.
"Yup" He replied with a popping 'p' sound.
"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO VIVAAN?" She yelled, horrified. And for the first time, Vivaan looked nervous.
"Umm...let's just say that a few drops of chloroform had a role to play in it" He said biting his lip.
"YOU DRUGGED ME? YOU KIDNAPPED ME!!!!" She screeched, no longer able to control herself and he had to cover his ears.
She started thrashing the door, trying to open it while murmuring things about what would happen if her parents knew about this.
"OPEN THE DAMN DOOR VIVAAN. LET ME OUT OR ATLEAST TAKE ME BACK TO THE RESORT. NOW!!!" She shouted again, as loud as she could.
"Samara listen to me" Vivaan said trying to hold her down.
"NO!!!" She giving him a hard push.
He sighed, slightly frustrated. He'd had enough, so he gripped her shoulders, effectively turning her towards him.
"Samara, calm down, look at me. Just give me a minute to explain. After that, if you'll still don't want to stay, I'll take you back right away" He said sincerely.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" She said angrily, snubbing him. She continued to pry open the door but her attempts were futile. She heard him release a deep breath.
"Ahaan knows" He said, loud and clear. And she froze.
"What" She said, astounded.
"I said, Ahaan knows that you're with me. I was in the coffee shop this morning. I spoke to your brother after you left. That was my only hope. I asked for his help" He explained.
"Help? For what? To kidnap his sister?" She scowled; her chest was heaving. She was trying hard to control herself.
"Will you let me finish?" He asked, agitated.
She looked away and he continued.
"I told him that I want to take you out, one last time...before you left. He was a little unsure at first but then I told him about how I feel about you and everything that has happened between us." He said.
"YOU DID WHAT? Why did you tell him everything? I need to talk to him" Samara panicked. She couldn't believe this was happening.
"Where's my phone?" She mumbled as she started looking for it.
Vivaan took it out of his pocket and handed it to her. She snatched it, glaring at him. After a moment, she dialled Ahaan's number.
"You reached his place?" Ahaan asked as soon as he picked up.
"Have you lost your fucking mind Ahaan?" She gritted out, vexed.
"Sam..." Ahaan tried but she cut him off.
"You helped someone kidnap your own sister! How could you?" She bellowed.
She expected Ahaan to get scared or give her some lame excuse but he suddenly burst into a fit of laughter. Vivaan on the other hand starting laughing too. Her jaw dropped.
"What the hell is wrong with you guys? Really Vivaan?" She exclaimed, appalled as she looked at Vivaan, who also was trying hard to control himself.
"Don't be so hard on him, the chloroform thing was my idea. Just a few drops, nothing dangerous" Ahaan informed her.
"And what? I'm supposed to be grateful? Un-fucking-believable" She huffed as she looked at Vivaan pointedly.
"Samara, listen to me first. You want to know why I helped him right? For that you'll have to calm down first" Ahaan said.
Samara kept silent, giving him a chance to explain.
"I helped him because he makes you happy. And I don't even remember the last time that I'd seen you so happy. I'm not blind, Samara. I notice stuff. You've been so miserable since you came back from that date. I knew something was wrong. When Vivaan told me everything, it all made sense...I know how important memories are to you. Vivaan is special to you and I honestly have no clue if you guys have anything together in the future because nobody has seen it. But what I do know is that you guys have right now, this very moment, to make some good memories. I couldn't let you pass up that opportunity. If you don't be with him right now, even when you have a chance, you'll regret it later. Trust me, regret's a bitch. Leave this place with good memories, not with regret" Ahaan said to her.
She was speechless for a moment; She didn't know how to respond to that. But deep down she also knew that he was right. Forcing herself to not do what she really wanted, was not helping at all. Today was all she had and instead to running and depriving herself, she really needed to make the most out of it.
"Never knew you had it in you" She smirked, teasingly.
She was genuinely impressed by Ahaan's sense of maturity and how much her little brother cared about her.
"If you still want to come back, you can, no pressure. Vivaan will drop you... don't worry" Ahaan said and she glanced up at him.
Vivaan gave her a small nod of confirmation.
"What about mom..." She tried to question.
"Don't worry, it's been taken care of. Mom, dad won't know a thing. They already think you're upset with them so you want to stay alone. I'll handle it" He said, reassuring her.
"Then, I think...umm...I'll stay..." She said making her decision, as a tentative smile grazed her lips. She could see Vivaan visibly relax from her peripheral vision.
"Good choice. Enjoy yourself, sis. You deserve it. I'll see you soon" Ahaan said.
"You know I love you right?" She said, gratefully.
"Yeah whatever" Ahaan replied as he cut the call.
Samara laughed at this and turned towards Vivaan.
"Uhh..." She opened her mouth to say something to him but she didn't have much words.
But he made it easy for her by getting out of the car and walking over to her side. She watched as the wind messed with his unruly hair; she couldn't tear her eyes away from him. The longer she looked at him, the harder she was falling for him. Their eyes locked and he gave her a quick smile as he opened the door for her.
A day ago, when she had realised that she had feelings for him, she knew that she had dug a trench for herself and filled it with water. Now, she needed to step inside and drown in it. Her heart wouldn't have it any other way.
She took his hand and stepped out of the car, finally taking a minute to look at the house that stood in front of her.
"Wow..." She exclaimed in awe. It was nothing like she had expected.
