Annabeth POV
They turned off my soundproofing to talk to me. I'd already done the polygraph, but they were trying again with no lie detector. I'll admit, it's hard to remember how I deflected the questions earlier.
Fitz, one of their scientists, is the one talking to me. He asks me, "are there more of you out there?" And then someone starts screaming.
Percy.
"What are you doing to him?" I ask, trying to get a better angle at the hallway.
"We're not doing anything!" He says, checking something on his tablet.
I slam my fist on the glass, making him flinch. "Stop lying to me. Tell me what you're doing to him."
The screams die down. "It wasn't us."
"Fitz, if you don't open this door right now-"
He shows me the tablet. "Look. He's asleep. He must have had a nightmare or something."
Oh gods, Percy. "Let me out of here." I say.
"Annabeth, I can't just let you out."
I can see his tablet. Percy was crying. How could they dismiss that as 'just a nightmare?' "Please, I'll tell you anything. But I know what nightmares Percy has and he won't cooperate at all if you don't let me see him." He also might attack their agents if I can't convince him I'm ok.
Fitz looked torn, but still said, "I can't just-"
"There are more of us. Two camps, one at Long Island sound and one in California. Let me talk to Percy!"
Shocked, Fitz let's me out and opens Percy's door for me.
"Percy?" I ask, stepping in.
"Annabeth." He sounds relieved.
"It was just a dream." I say, coming closer.
"They killed you."
"I'm ok, Percy."
"He killed you." He repeats, pointing to Fitz, who stands there shocked.
"He didn't hurt me, Percy."
"Good. I would've killed him." He growls.
Fitz shuts the cell door. "I have to go deal with something, I'll just.... leave you guys here." He says with a nervous glance at Percy.
I nod, and once he leaves, I whisper to Percy, "Has it came back yet?" Percy nods.
"Do you have any water?" He asks.
"No, and I don't have a drachma either." I reply. He sighs. "Percy?"
"Yeah?"
"I told them about the camps."
He looks up. "You what?"
"They asked me if there were more half bloods, and then you started screaming. We both know what would've happened if you weren't sure I was ok. Telling them was the only way Fitz would've let me get to you." I explain.
He smiles. "It's ok, Wise Girl. I would've done the same."
I smile back at him, but then Agent Morse storms in, Fitz behind her. "Where's the sword, Jackson?"
(A/N what's up fellow demigod agents? I can't believe it's August. Seriously, it has to still be July. ANYWAY a late happy birthday to Harry Potter, who turned forty on July 31! Do I have any fellow Hogwarts fans here today? I think I'm a mix of Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. What about you?
Also, I promise to publish the next chapter on Saturday. I have it written already, no worries folks. I'm also writing ahead today- hopefully a full chapter but Writers Block is straight from Tartarus. In any case, with any luck the chapters will continue like clockwork.
We are currently at 556/~2000 stories tagged Agents of SHIELD! HUGE thank you to the readers, I could not have done it without your reads and votes.
And on that note, I just witnessed 5:55 pm 55 seconds, so hopefully that is good luck to write.
May the Force be with you and the odds in your favor.
