I put my hair up as quickly as I could, threw on my work clothes, and frantically ran to my car.  I was running extremely late and I needed to meet with a new nurse at the hospital.

I drive quickly and parked, running in. I can't believe I decided to binge watch Criminal Minds last night. Everyone must think I'm so unprofessional. This pained me because of my huge crush on one of my coworkers. I hoped it was mutual, but ultimately couldn't tell.

I signed in, then headed to the spot where I was supposed to meet the new nurse. They hospital told me nothing about them, and I hoped for someone who I liked, and didn't just gossip like the others. None of them are bad people, but hearing about the same cheating people over and over again gets tiring.

I stood waiting with my clipboard, thankful that I wasn't the only one late today. I tried to stand up super straight to look professional.

"Hey," a man with a deep voice said, walking up to me.

"I'm sorry, I can't help you. I'm waiting for someone," I gave him a smile. "The front desk can help if you need anything." He chuckled.

"Yeah, that's me." I looked him up and down. He wore plain clothes and shoes. He had a duffle bag, with what I assumed were his scrubs. The more I looked at him, the more I thought I might have a new work crush soon.

"Perfect. Nurse Brian Hart, is it?" He nodded and we went on our way.

I brought him on a tour around the hospital, explaining each wing. I showed him where he would work, where he could change, the supply rooms, everything. I hated that I was the one put in charge to teach the newbie everything. At least he was nice.

Occasionally, he'd ask a joking question, or crack a joke, making this a lot more enjoyable. He even asked if people actually "did the nasty" at work, or if that was only in shows. It seemed a bit too suggestive to me. It took me a moment to recollect my thoughts, because they sort of drifted for a split second...

After a long tour around are huge hospital, we were finally done. This was the only thing I was required to do today, but I was completely burnt out by the end of it.

I sighed a breath of relief, and dropped my clipboard onto the front desk. Brian smiled at me.

"That took way longer than expected. I've never had to give a tour before," I said.

"There's a first time for everything," he winked. "I'm just glad you didn't call me newbie. Every time I transfer, that's my new name."  He smiled cheekily.

"That can be arranged," I returned the cheeky smile. We stood and stared into each other's eyes for what felt like forever.

"What's up guys?" My work crush, or maybe my ex work crush, said, causing us to break the stare. Our stare. He clearly was unhappy about the hottie I just gave a tour to.

"Oh, hey Max," I said, looking quickly at my clip board, averting my eyes. Dr. Max Field versus nurse Brian Hart. The tension filled the room, and the front entrance is a huge room. I started writing things down to avoid looking at the glare down that was happening right next to me.

"So, Max is it?" Brian asked, but he sounded pretty pissed off.

"Dr. Field to you," Max gave a cold stare to Brian. It felt so awkward. Why does Max hate him so much when they've only just met?

"Okay, well I'm going to go to the lounge," I picked up my clipboard and gave them both a stare.

"I'll go with you," Brian said, before Max could even speak a word.
